You see, the oral surgeon I saw uses a valium injection to put you to sleep. I woke up afterwards, floated at to the car (nurse and mate were helping me), then home to sit in front of the telly dribbling like a loon.

Obviously oral surgeons cost more, but if you have insurance or don't mind spending a few extra coin then they are the way to go......

They rock aye... haha... Its a crazy feeling when you get knocked out that way. When I was younger I also had 6 teeth surgically removed before I got braces (not wisdom ones) cuz my mouth too small for all them there teeth lol...

When I came out from that one, my mother was moving the car closer, I had just come to n was being helped to walk, I saw her out the window in the car n thought she was leaving without me... I told the nurse 'I can walk by myself'.... stumbled over to the window tried to get out of it (2nd floor), found myself being helped back to a chair while we waited for mum to come back in and get me.

On the drive home... I had my mouth packed with cotton ball thingies still to deal with the bleeding... and for some reason... the national anthem was on the radio... I still get shit for it to this day!! 'God of nations at thy feet...' singing like a drunken drugged up something a rather... with blood spitting out of my mouth n dribbling down chin....

Getting it ripped out at that price is very good. I can't stand injections either but they can give you a pill half an hour before hand and you don't notice the injection. Usually they have to give me gas first the inject - cos I see that needle coming and I hyperventilate.

Dentists have come along way now. I did have an oral surgeon pull a bit of a tooth out which had been crowned - where the post had snapped off way up in my gum. I was knocked out for it - woke and taken home - absolutely no pain whatsoever - I could not believe it.

    Good luck

I had mine extracted in USA so can't comment on local prices. I opted for a full anesthesia and loved every moment of it. I am still struggling to understand how after the drug was administered everything in front of me started sliding down and yet remaining in place at the same time. There was no gap or feeling of blacking out whatsoever - the assistant put a piece of plastic in my mouth and asked to clamp it with my teeth, then pulled it out. Then she told me - "we are all done". Surprisingly enough there was no pain whatsoever - I haven't used a single painkiller pill they gave me, yet there was so much discomfort that I'd almost rather prefer pain.

Jumping right in (i.e. not bothering to read the posts...)

Wisdom teeth... I got all 3 (only had 3) done at once. Can't recall the price, but no horror stories.

Injected up, numb, teeth pulled (not too obnoxious either... ), sore for a few days, a bit of blood in the mouth for a few days... then done.

Or put another way - wish I'd done it sooner, and would do it tomorrow if I had to.

Go for it, do them all at once.

    yup,

I had all four out, no problems, minimal pain, minimal blood, wish i had it done sooner. Don't listen to all the namby pambys with their horror stories. If you leave it long, it hurts a whole lot less to get em out than to leave em in.
