Do a web search for IKON shocks.
They are Koni's renamed by the new manufacturer.
Koni sold the MC section of the bizz' and no longer make bike shocks.
They are now made in OZ under the name Ikon but we do have a few dealers carrying them here.
Cheers.
cheers Jackrat I'm onto it
I know the things arnt cheep, so I wounder what it would cost to get them rebuilt? might be worth looking into.
cheers DD

Hagon is another brand you could try, depends on how much you want to spend Hagon and Koni are probably middle of the range then you get into stuff like Ohlins at around a $1000 for a pair of twin shocks tailor made for your bike and weight
Theres a crowd doing "cheap" replacement shocks I know motomail were doin em -they were jap replacements for stuffed stock shocks.

thanks I'll phone them today, I am horrified at the price of a pair of shocks, we haven't heard of anyone rebuilding shocks but that sounds more promising that coughing up $500+ for a very old bike, the shocks on there are really nice chrome ones and we don't want to get nasty looking black ones, so will try the wreckers also. cheers LucyOriginally Posted by XJ/FROSTY

Hi Jbee, I rang them, they haven't got anything left worth buying off it, sadly, but econohonda have got something I think, so I'm off to do some measuring cheers L
Well if they aren't leaking then just changing the oil in them will improve things to the extent that the bike is worth.
Try the link for the Good mechanical ideas site I posted a day or so back, they have an article on re oiling non rebuildable shocks. I've had a few done, basically you drill a hole & braze on a tire valve, pump the old oil out & stroke in some new oil.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
That's what I do - my KT250 spent the night talking to the flounder and stingrays in about 1988,...I drilled a hole at the bottom by the eye, silfosed a nut over it and sucked the oil up.,been a few years now,but them again it hardly ever get used.Did the same on the TLR200 last year - the shock I got for it were for an XR500,after getting the spring rate right I drilled and drained the oil,did the nut bit and refilled with 5 weight.I could do the same for you - but in this day and age I won't admit to it....you take it away and stay away....

Thanks heaps for this idea, Dave, we have decided to give this idea a try, cos we can only get shocks that are painted black, the ones on it at present are loverly chrome, and we can't bear the thought of losing the shiny stuff, so will post back and let ya know how this works out, thanks also Motu for your pearls of wisdom, no wonder you hang out in boganville LOLOriginally Posted by F5 Dave
