Gaaarrrhh! I did not need to read that right now!
hXc got hit from behind a couple of weeks ago.
He and the girl that hit him are both covered 3rd party only by State.
We were told that we could not proceed with our claim until the other party had lodged their claim.
She has (after almost two weeks) finally lodged her claim, stating that hXc pulled out of a a side street in front of her...WTF??? (all of the damage to his bike is on rearward facing parts).
We can get a copy of the accident report from the pollies , instantly (at our cost) or wait anything up to 6 wks for it to be forwarded to State.
Meanwhile the bitch who hit him, is still driving to school in her pus bucket, telling a different story every day to whoever will listen, while Zac is reduced to riding Mum's cruiser to school (how uncool is that!), while his bike is in a very sorry state at the bike shop.
    And still we wait.......
I would NEVER do 3rd party insurance again!! I am changing to full cover with a voluntary high excess, premiums are pretty much the same as 3rd party

    Unhappy

State are wankers... took them 6 months to pay out my last claim. That was 6 months with no vehicle, and no money. Cheers state. Fuckers.

    Avoid them like the plague.

the insurance company wrote my bike off, and sold it in an auction- well before they even talked to me about money.
I was fucked off cos i was going to buy the bike back at the auction - crutches and all.
When i asked - ok when will i get my money.....in 3 weeks time....ok so when is the bike to be auction - it was at turner last month.
This is after they had told me i was in the wrong - until i threatend to take their client to court again so he could get charged again.

F*ckers have wasted no time in blaming me for the accident their client caused, and sending me a letter demanding that I pay $4k for two dented doors! I am in the process of issuing a counter claim to Sate to tell them to shove it up their arse. My quote to fix my bike was a little over $5k - yay I win. It won't cost me that much thanks to the wonderful people at KB but if those f*cks think I'm just going to bend and say please then they've got another thing coming and it aint what they thought!

I'm insured with State, policy is cheap, excess is low, they cover trackdays, and so far I've never had to claim. No worries.

Yep I'm on full cover now, I'd only do 3rd party for a real cheap bike etc.

I doubt i'll ever see a penny from the fucker that fucked my bike up.

So went full for my CBR.

Its not that its an Eliminator that makes it uncool - it is that it is Mum's Eliminator... subtle difference, I know, but huge if you are a 16 y/o boy!

I'm insured with State, have been since I was young and they were the only ones who would take the risk on a young fulla riding a sports bike.

Had one claim with them, nearly 2 years ago now. Wrote off the TLR, had a haggle with them over the value of the bike, but I just went to Colemans who provided a valuation and State turned around and offered $500 less that what Colemans specified - I was reasonably happy with that figure. From crash to cash was about 6 weeks I think. I wouldn't think you would get all that much better service from any of the other insurers.

All in all, you get reports of people having good experiences and bad experiences with all of the Insurance Co's. I can't speak for others, but in dealing with State, I was straight up and down, didn't try to "pull the wool" or claim for more than I was entitled to, and didn't get upset or yell at them at any point. I just followed the process and was happy with the outcome.

And because of the outcome with that claim, I am still with State.
