No brand mainly. If it's a brand you've heard of, it's generally proven

Never used 1tonne myself, maybe someone else can help.

Best thing to do is find a jacket you like, and ask if anyone here has used it. Then you get a "real world" review before shelling out the $$

Nasty's 1Tonne jacket is falling to bits around the wrist after 6 months ... looks like typical chinese stitching rubbish.

We've done our dash with crappy internet products now which includes boots, gloves, jackets and pants. You'd think we'd got it by now ... cheap = crap.

Well finally we have and it does. Only shop-bought products now that we can try on an evaluate.

There are too many stories about cheap crap leather goods being sold to bikers.

The lady in St.Kevins Arcade (K*Road) Tailor makes great stuff that you can take back if there is a problem. She quoted me $1500 for a 2 piece leathers with top quality zips and armour.

+1...Can definitely recommend Kerrie from Motor Cycle Safety Wear in St Kevins Arcade....She did an absolutely awesome job on both my Leather Pants (major alterations) and also Replaced Both Zips with her recommended Heavy Duty ones on Gixxer 4 evers Jacket..... believe me, this Lady knows what she's talking about ...just ring her...09 309 9522 or check out...www.msw.co.nz

    1 Tonne gear

I,and my wife, use 1 tonne cordura jackets and pants. So far we have had no problems with this gear. It is warm, fits well, water tight and seems to be well stitched and strong. They have all the armour in the right places and if I did come off, (which I wont., I have faith that the gear will hold up. I guess every product has its lemons but ours has been fine. Anyway if you are not happy with the product you buy, you have the right to a refund, so its a no brainer really! I don't like paying big prices for essentially the same product and truth be known most of it is probably made in the same factory anyway, just like the appliances etc we buy today. That's my opinion anyway. It all comes down to the discernment of the buyer really!

There is no regulateory rrp mechanism,if so it can be construed as price fixing,i.e an importer or maker saying this will cost you $75.00 so we suggest a rrp of $145.00.Refer the Katmandu prosecution when it was proved they upped their prices so they could discount them(back to normal prices thus tricking consumer),mind you they were not,are not only ones to do that either.

That said just because it says spyke for example doesn't mean it is better than quasi or 1 tonne to name two dealers, just their product is considerably less expensive and may stand up,may not in a bin.

The retailer/operator isn't obliged to give a refund if you change your mind, faulty goods yes.

i've scored myself some leathers (jacket and pants) off 1tonne,and i'm very happy with them.i went to his place and viewed them as opposed to buying unviewed off trade me.the armour is certified, the zips are certainly solid enough, and i was more than satisfied.

it's a real turn off to me,to see other retards( i mean retailers) slagging off other brands for (what seems to me) their own personal gain. IMO,
these are the type of shifty goings on that steer me clear of dealing with those sorts.

and if anyone is wondering about this gear, don't take someones view who hasn't seen it,yet still bad mouths it, go and have a look for yourself.
sure you can buy the brand name stuff and pay the astronomical mark up on them, but i've seen big brand stuff fail aswell.

oh...i just have to say, i like the guy on this thread who says:Quote:
