There was an interesting article in The Harold the other morning, pointing out that it doesn't matter what the rest of the world does, as China's use of fossil fuels and the resulting pollution far overwhelm any 'good' things any other country might do. China is commissioning 2 (IIRC) new coal-fired power stations every month, and cutting down vast areas of forest (including some supposedly protected areas).
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...

And, it concludes, all taxes, regulations and other interventions intended to reduce emissions of CO2 should be abandoned forthwith.
This is hitting the nail on the head. It is a global tax scam.

I'm a believer in global warming and man's contribution, but even so recognise there is some sense in the Manhatten Declaration.
The point of carbon trading and carbon taxes is to impose an economic incentive for people to reduce the release of carbon. However I am troubled that there is a huge bureaucracy and assessment industry required to make sense of this - and it will essentially be non-productive.
Really the global warming actions are actually anti-pollution measures and maybe we'd get a lot more traction if scientists just said so. We are polluting the planet - let's slow that down.
As a skeptic, or even a sceptic, you are not alone.
That said, some sustainability initiatives that ride on the back of "climate change" responses make good sense (e.g. conserving scarce resources and not shitting in one's own backyard or the backyards of others). Others are just insane, unscientific nonsense (e.g. planting trees to hoover-up atmospheric carbon dioxide).
