short version=The weekend SUCKED.
Longer version
The weekend started badly, with a call from a friend on Friday night that left me feeling bloody miserable and thinking about not even bothering to go,but I got up on the Saturday morning and felt marginally better and decided to head off South.
The state I was in I probably shouldn't have been driving and the first few hours just blurred by until I hit Balclutha and went knocking on Scumdogs door to introduce myself, figuring I was better off meeting him in his private life rather than his normal occupation, cup of tea and a chat and after admiring his TV stand made from a couple of V8 blocks I was back on my way.
Arrived at the Jones residence and watched them prepping bikes for the next day, with Pete taking his Norton Atlas and 1929 Dunelt and Patrick his RGV250
It seemed as though the cold Otago winds had blown my troubles away when I got up the next morning and the day was looking clear and cold and as I arrived at the track I admired the way the sun reflected off the ice down the front straight.
Deciding to do a track walk I wandered off down to end of the straight and found I could ice skate across the whole of the sweeper, carrrying on from there I walked off towards the next right hander,I noticed Darryl arriving and as he drove across the track to the pits started to SNOW,during the day the temp varied from a low of 5 to a high of 12 degrees![]()
A couple of hours later and the snow had stoped and the ice had thawed and the practices started we rolled out and the bike was running like shit did three laps and pulled in,went to rip off the carb to replace it with another and noticed the breather bottle 1/2 full of oil, game over for this kid![]()
Due to being dicked around by the engineer who did the crank and getting it late the motor was put together in a bit of a hurry and I suspect I may have broken a ring doing it,so yeah there was some racing but I was to busy sulking to bother watching much of it.
Packed up and head home about 4pm,worried about getting out of Dunedin with all the snow, but the roads were clear until just South of Christchurch when it really started coming down,so a total of 1200km and about 13hrs driving just to sit on the sideline and watch others go racing.
