    Carry on
There will be a lot of people standing around when they can help because in my experience the AMCC marshall recruitment drive is as follows:

Step 1. E-mail all current AMCC marshalls telling them bout the event usually a coupla weeks before. There is also this newsletter which randomly appears in your post box.

Step 2. Ask them if they know anyone who would like to be a marshall - and don't forget to tell these potential marshalls bout the awesome free water and a fruit and sandwich - yummy!! Oh and riders/drivers and only riders/drivers of the cars/bikes the marshalls came in get a $10 petrol voucher.

They're just plain lucky that a charitable site like kiwibiker exists and they can post here.

P.S: The amount of politics that exist among the management of the club, put in the most polite manner possible, IS SICKENING!!!

    Hi there

I agree with what you have said above, I for one, never read posts in the racing section (only becuase I cant race ) but as someone that volunteers to help others out a lot, it caught my eye.

I think it should of stayed in the General Section?
    Just my thoughts

I'm always up for a free lunch... can't do this weekend, but it would be cool to help out sometime in the future (since I can't race a fat-ass M109R).

yep. You have to be at the Jennian Hut between 0815 and 0830. They run through the brief each time anyway.

Where are you coming from - somone might be able to give you a lift.

As far as paying marshalls, there are usually petrol vouchers. The racers complain if the entry fees go up, even though most of it goes to the Puke goat track. Can't have it both ways.

This club is asking for volinteers to put out bales, OR NO MEETING, Now this, pull your heads out of your arse and start meeting your commitments on a professional level.
Shaun, you're dead right. Recall the MNZ AGM. "All prizemoney will be forgone by competitors to help out clubs with advertising etc..., so they don't go into financial hardship." Yes they can pay for flaggies. They've just saved between $5000-$7500 a meeting!! And, it's still the competitors that get told they could be denied a round!! Not good!!

Anyone heard the phrase bite the hand that feeds you??
Piss enough people off and you find yourself having to BEG for marshalls
Perhaps Upper management at AMCC needs to look inwards with honesty and wonder why this situation has been allowed to happen

    Hi ya Frosty.

As ya know, Chris Lawrance and I ran the two day Road Race Spectacular at the Taupo track on the weekend of Dec. 30/31st 2006.

We charged the lowest entry (as far as I know) for a two day meeting, and even supplied free beers and a BBQ on two nights!!!
We even had two ambulances on the Sunday.
We also had 57 friggen trophies made and spot prizes, which combined to the total value of $3000!
Chris and I paid $50-80 per marshall/per day and supplied them with full lunches/drinks and invited them to the BBQ with free beers also.
Chris and I underwrote the entire meeting to the tune of $18,000. Thankfully we had a good spectator turnout to help pay for the day.

Now, what I want to know is, if National Road Race meeting entry fees are considerably higher than what we charged, then why can't they pay for bloody marshalls??

With no prizemoney to pay out now, who's making money?

So to make sure I have this right, AMCC are the organisers of these events?
Who would be a contact there to put a proposal in for all safety marshalls, flaggies and paramedics if required?

I think paying volunteers between $50 and $80 each is crazy, it becomes and expectation.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, RSQKRU would be interested next season.

    Cheers Scott

Why pay the volunteers? When I was a marshall:

    1) I got into the event for free
    2) I got to be 3 metres from the action - better than any grandstand
    3) I got to walk around the pits at no extra charge
    4) I got a free lunch

I never expected any financial re-imbursement for my services - I had fun doing it! As long as the chiefs up the top looked after us with food, drinks and the like we never complained!

It's not about paying the marshalls. Pretty much all of us do it for the reasons you outlined.

It's about the fact that AMCC are such a disorganised bunch of........can't say anything nice so......
