TWI mark on Pirelli tyre: What is it?

    Hi,

I was looking at my tyres yesterday and saw a few little bulges across the tyre tread at one point (below the contact surface of the tread in the troughs actually). Initially I thought it might be damage from when I hit a small kangaroo but then I noticed a the letters T.W.I. on the sidewall near the tread.

Does anyone know what TWI stands for? Is it a Tyre Weld point or something? Tyres are Pirelli Scorpion AT V-rated.

    Cheers

    C

    Thumbs up

Tread Wear Indicator. The story goes that when these are level with the surface of the tyre you should replace it (assuming even wear side-middle-side)

Cheers for that TL. I thought it must be something logical like that.
