    First bin

Riding at a gentle pace through a quiet kapiti coast town on a sunday afternoon, cruising along, enjoying the sunshine.... then the car in front of me brakes for a car turning in front of it, and.... i'm off in la-la land until it's too late, I slam on the brakes, lock the front, and it's BAM down on the road before i knew what was happening.

Wrecked my left footpeg mount, snapped a mirror off at the mount. Luckily no other damage to the bike. If i'd kept my head and not freaked out, i think i could have easily stopped in time if i had practiced my emergency braking better.

Suffered some minor bruising and a damn sore neck/shoulder. Draggin jeans kevlar did its job nicely, as the cloth ripped like it wasnt even there - my knee would be seriously injured if i was wearing normal pants i reckon.

Leather jacket almost unmarked and helmet's visor mount fucked. Helmet since replaced but i'm pissed off about the damage to the jeans. Sourceing new mirrors and footpeg this week so i should be back on the horse this weekend.

So that was an expensive lapse of concentration. It only takes a second and you're in the shit on a bike, so ride safe out there people.

Ay caramba! Sorry to hear about your bin - but at least you were honest and 'fessed up that it was daydreaming that did it Glad to hear you are intact and only have scuffed up gear and bike! ( I should know, me doing impromptu bank biffing and all )

Glad to hear you haven't been put off by the experience and all - I know when I start going into la-la land, I do the ol'cuff to the back/side of the helmet trick (like that McDee's ad "C'mon Richard!" )

Get your gear sorted, get your ride sorted and get yourself sorted and get back on out there!
