On the Maori sickness thing - I think it may just be the jurno being a cock. After reading into the story more, its more of a tapu thing.
While i don't think he should get off - I hope it educates young Maori that tapu is scared an should not be messed with.

stick a sign on your bike saying tapu so maoris won't nick it. and for all the people saying i'm racist cause tapu only means something to maoris and not white people, hopefully the white people will think its owned by a big maori fella and won't steal it.

A male occupant fired a shotgun down the hallway. No one was hit. The man who allegedly fired the gun is awaiting trial.

anyone keen on raising money to get this geyser some target practice? I wonder if he will qualify for legal aid ?

Not a good decision on his part.
But the point is, mate maori is a belief, not a proven fact, to propose it as a defence is about as viable as using any other superstition to defend criminal activity. In other words, bloody stupid.
As for the Taiaha issue, last time I checked it was classed as a weapon, charge the bastard accordingly.
btw this being called a racist thread is a bit off IMHO, the thread cannot be anything, the views expressed by individuals can be many things, but mostly what I see is people pissed off with some ignorant bastard trying to defend bad decisions by pulling a culturally specific card in the hope of it doing him some good. Which is just another way of him trying to get out of paying for his crimes, nothing new there, but using his culture to hide behind is cowardly and destined to fail.
