Why? because I disaprove of cops gangbanging teenagers and breaking laws they are paid to uphold?

or because I believe that your "Crime Resolution" statistics are bullshit and that a speeding ticket is probably recorded as "resolved crime".

Pull the other one, the pigs aren't over worked or lacking resources.

Most of them are just lazy and so thick they would struggle to solve a game of Cluedo.

Yup - and we're just waiting for you to become a politician and fix the problem.

(Of course if you did you'ld have to find another windmill to joust at on KB)

    Mwhahahaahaha!!!

Of course it's easy to stand outside the cage and poke a stick knowing you are incapable of getting into the cage and fixing the 'problem'

Nice troll sunshine, it WAS a troll? right? right??
Actually Mr Dog, it was not a troll.

But I fail to see why a 5km stretch of rural SH2 needs 3 HP's on a Sunday afternoon.

Riding between Auckland and Taupo yesterday, via Paeroa, Waihi, Tauranga and Rotorua I saw probably 8 or 9 HP cars and one GD.

Do crim's get sunday off work?

I have never seen police "walking the beat" in NZ. Must be too much like hard work when they can sit in the station house or drive round in big gas guzzling holdens.

Replace Holdens with Pigs, make the fuckers walk.

Haven't you ever watched "The Bill"?

And all the cars you saw were ONLY doing that stretch of road - and the GDB was doing traffic and all the yellow and blue cars were not being used by GDB? (happens a lot down here).

Walking the beat? They have 'beat' sections in the cities doing just that.

Use to do it myself when we were fully manned up (we achieved that for two weeks this year - can't remember what year it was when we last had a complete compliment of staff.)

EDIT:Our total town diameter is only 4.5km from edge-to-edge, our area is over 75km in diameter from edge to edge - hence we don't get a lot of time to do the beat - cars we got brand new last week already have 2,500km+kays on them, the 'old' (3 years old from memory) ones had 215,000+ on them when handed in.

You should be climbing into the policians about all the cops deployed overseas at great expense - the Solomons etc

But at least THEY won't give you a ticket so I guess you're happy with that situation.

And I HAVE watched The Bill - and Ren and Stimpy and other fantasy shows too.

You REALLY do have no idea, do you???

hmmm Patrick,, i guess you have never broken the speedlimit. never done 53 in a 50, never gone 35 past a school bus/school.
ofcourse , you probably always paid your taxes on time, and say please and thank you.

whilst i do not condone speeding,(depends on the situation) its a fact that everyone has exceeded the speed limit some place or time.

Yes. I think it would be a good idea. At present the public perceive a great deal of money going into the police force , despite which they are constantly told that the police are undermanned to the point where great sections of criminal activity have effectively been decriminalised. Presumably (it is the only presumption we can make) all that extra money is going into traffic.

At least if it was a separate force we would know where the money was going, or not going.

I don't think you really know what you're talking about either, you blindly defend your employer when they are ineffective. Are you hoping it will get you a promotion or something?

Firstly scummy, tickets don't actually bother me that much as I have only ever had one, my opinions on the pigs are nothing to do with my personal experience as a biker. I'm smart enough to "ride to the conditions" and "when they change" I reduce my speed, capisce?

I agree with you about deploying resource overseas, not our problem why try and fix it when we have enough of our own?

As for "beats" in cities, perhaps Dyna the public relations officer for Auckland region, could advise us as to where they are in his fine city?

It's not downtown (other than a few controlling the drunks at the Viaduct on party nights) and it's not in the ghetto where the crims are breeding.

    Where are these mythical "beats"?

As for politics, fuck that, I dont think the world is ready for it.

No. Certainly not. I have an education.

    Oh yeah, and

    1. I don't agree with being paid to enforce rules that I break myself.
    2. They don't pay enough
    3. I'd have to work with cocks like Dyna
    4. They don't pay enough
    5. The temptation to beat the shit out of some of your customers would be too much for me. I admire some of your guys restraint in that regard, but wish some of you had less.
    6. They wont take me because of some petty convictions when I was a youngster.

You can sit and try and pass the buck by saying "don't like it then you do it" but in reality it is not a solution.

There are plenty of people that want to be pigs, there are plenty of people that walk away from being pigs because of the bureacracy and bullshit.

Funnily enough it's the same bureacracy and bullshit the rest of the general public have an issue with.

No.6 blew it - easy to stand behind a burnt bridge and say you can't help.

I'm getting bored now, time to fang off at 70 through the 50 area, jump in my GDB car and start firing off speeding tickets like lollies in a lolly scramble.....

ALL this thread really shows is that there are entrenched perceptions out there that the police are venal and/or wrongly directed, idle and uncaring.

These perceptions may be far from the truth - but, if it is what people believe then the police have as big a problem as they would if they were true ..........

Unless something can be done to show the police as partners with the public in preventing the problem of real crime** and not just 'part of the problem' which is how they seem to be currently viewed then the 'bad' cops will go on operating under the "give a dog a bad name" principle and the 'good' cops will continue to become disheartened and increasingly cynical

.......... sad, innit..... anyone got any bright ideas on how to fix it?

**[no - i DON'T include ticketing a biker for going 10k over the limit on an otherwise totally empty road in good conditions as 'real crime'.... not that it's ever happened to me - just an example, you understand]

The problem is Scummy, that the perception is not that way without reason.

Ever wondered how stereotypes are formed?

True - if the police had 'buried' these latest sex type complaints that the media had levelled against police (instead of the individuals concerned) we wouldn't be having some of the present problems - but that is not the way to do things eh.

Now we have the public having a real negative perception of the morals of ALL police
And it's backfiring on the public already as some potential sexual offence victims are now unwilling to come forwards because of "those sex charges against the police, I mean, how do I know I can trust them and they won't do something to me"

Nice one media, ya REALLY helped out both parties here eh?
