Get a hold of a decent manual and you should be able to do all that yourself.
Camchain and tensioner replacement and the reshiming need the top taken off the motor and things will need to be measured and tightened to the right torque so if you don't have a torque wrench and feeler gauge get the shop to do it.
As for the carbs you can order the bits needed over the internet for approx USD100-300. With a manual, some screwdrivers, a few spanners and a bit of patience you could do the carbs youself. Put aside a whole day to do it and you'll be right.
righto then guys.
who in welly wood can help us rebuild a mighty zxr?
i have the garage space and the parts (well a lot of parts) just not the knowledge.
i'd like to learn.
then i can 'fix' my own bike.
Fukken thanks Sal, thats very very nice of you to offer!
I've already given Motorad the go ahead to get it all sorted!!! two weeks ago infact. parts are already on their way from JAPAN!!
If only i knew sooner, i just wanted to get her done aye. miss her so much. been 4 weeks now without even a touch. arrrrrrgh!
I live in an apartment so any work done by me would be impossible. no garage space at all. 'inner city' living, go figure!
Sal i hope you're ok. Nice pic by the way!!!!!

yeah im fine!
ok well keep us all posted and you'll be out on the black beast in no time!!!
i bought a complete ZXR250A for $1000 back in the day. As said, brake pads, plugs etc you should be able to do yourself. Only thing you should need to pay for is the tuning and getting the shims done. (you could do it yourself but its less hassle to just pay somo one who knows what they are doing)
Never too late to tell the shop they dont need to do the work, unless they have started on it already.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
I just bought one with 22,000kms for $1600. Rear shock is dead...bounces quite nicely up the road, and the front left fork seal is leaking and badly pitted and needs work to make run well, but other than that...not a bad machine.
Oh yeah, I have a spare ZXR motor in the garage I need to get rid of...
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
