Frostys nats attack pukie 10/11 march

You couldn't have asked for more perfect weather for racing.
The track was dry bugger all wind.
All season long Ive been struggling to get myself back to the speed I know Im capable of.
I went out in first practice and Just got a feel for the bike.
I slotted in behind gary pendleton and cruised round doing fairly consistant 70s -No hassles no issues.
Second practice and time to wind up the pace to get a good grid position.
Wound it up to 1.09 flat pretty inconsistant because I was trying to lay down 1 flying lap--trouble was--so was everybody else.
Qualified with a 69.18 which put me in 12th on the grid.

saturday race I got a darn good start, then let it all slip away-from 7th down to 12th in 2 corners.
Totally pissed off with myself I put my head down determined to do better.
The section of the track from the hairpin up over the hill is an area Im pretty strong so I wanted to gain as much ground as I could there.
Hauling up the "hill" with the throttle wide open in 5th I leaned the bike over
The 3 meeting old front tyre decided at this point to say BYE BYE in a fairly big way,My already planted knee found itself carrying a "bit" more weight than planned. It all happened in slow motion so i had time to decide exactly where i was going to jump clear. But a frigging bit of luck happened and the front bit by bit found grip.I was alive --yeeeha.
After that I lost confidence in the tyre and backed off a bit.Enough for craig green on his gsxr450 to get past me .I spent the rest of the race chasing him down.It came down to a charge for the line and he beat me by .018 of a second.
Sunday and I had much younger tyres on ready to do battle.
I wont bore you with the details but I diddn't have my race face on all day
My lap times were quite frankly embarressing.
I just diddnt have my heart in it (for reasons Im sure by now explained elsewhere)

Thanks as always to Doogal and Madduck my ever patient teammates.
Thanks to Quazimoto leathers,Baby B, Nationwide accessories,Norwest motor mechanics,Trumpy. Cycletreads,RRR racing, Haldane motorcycles, plugs for lugs,q and Forbes and davies for your support during this season

Theres a bunch of things been happening in my personal life over the past few months that havent been good.
Im going to go back to basics and get my ass out on the track as much as I can possibly afford -see if I can find my old form

    Thumbs up

Yeah, good on you Frosty for getting out there and doing it anyway, and I'm not just saying that because pink is my favourite colour,

From all the articles etc Ive read about the great riders they always had shit seasons and wondered what the f they were doing it for,

    Keep on going with it

Well that was a bit of a downer.

Something springs to mind though. Are you absolutely 100% sure that there's not a problem with the bike? Has anybody else ridden it? If my memory is right, you had a fair amount of work done on it and only got it back just before the season kicked off again. What if something is a little bit out, like a slightly sloppy swingarm, or steering head bearings, or a tiny bit of play in one of the wheel bearings, or the gay pink paint has too much drag? It may not be YOU at all, but something that is subtle enough that you can't pick up on it.

Nearly every time my riding has 'gone off' I've blamed myself, sometimes I've been right, but more often than not it has been something to do with the bike or my gear. Once it was a slightly sloppy rear wheel bearing. Another time it was loose spokes. Recently it was my leathers cutting off circulation to my arms!

Anyway, the point is, don't write yourself off just yet. Get someone who is good at bike development to ride the thing. Oh and don't listen to anyone that says "It's all in your head", otherwise you'll wind up thinking "GREAT. First I can't ride, and NOW I'm a nut job"

"There is an old man in your face daddy!"
