THe seller in the first listing wont give any prices when you contact him, make you wonder why they bother sometimes :-(

    Cylinder head cover

My haynes manual is still in the post, can you take the cyclinder haead cover of without having to reset the timing? It looks like the rocker arm shafts are held in place by the cover to.

I'm a bit relucant to do this as last time I tried to set timing I got it wrong and crushed the valves. DOH!

It either needs repainting or mirror polishing.

    cheers

Yes you can take the cover off its only the rocker cover... and will-not affect the engines timing at all....just dont dont play with the cam shaft and timing chain.

.the rockers are held inplace by the rocker shaft that screws into the rocker cover from the side one front and one rear

most likely some muppet has used half a tube of RTV because they were too cheap to replace the gasket.... struck that before. tiny taps with a soft hammer might help. then big taps with a big hammer. then shop on ebay for a new cover.

Id get arrested for polishing my little head on tv

Well managed to track down a front wheel rim on ebay. So now next pay day its try and find the following depending on cost front axle, rear axle , swing arm & bolt , master cylinder etc.

We can rebuild it at this rate could have bought a complete one second hand but hey wheres the fun?

    Grrrr

Disaster I sent the forks / yokes of to have them recondition & powder coated. Some gits half inched em as according to the courrier some one at my place signed for em.

So whilst looking for some replacement forks etc I came across this. It may allready have been posted on this forum but if not may be of use for future builds.

Fuck that. I'd be demanding to see the "receipt" from the courier co. and still having a crack at them. Its not unusual for a courier driver to "sign" a receipt and just leave your shit on the front step so they dont have to come back: they only get paid once no matter how many times they go round your house and you arent there. a LOT of dishonest fuckers work in that industry (dont get me wrong, and some good ones)

    Shrug

It's not a total wash it just means I cant try and get it road worthy and change it as it was running.

Ill chase them for the cash but I quite fancied the idea of fitting gb400 fork's as mentioned earlier specially as they are shorter.

Be careful about just replacing the top yoke as not all top and bottom yokes are the same.....

what size forks are you using??

    Arent standard CB250RS 33mm??

I have a MC19 front end on my one which is 37mm,I also have a MC17 front end which is 35mm....

Now the secret to fitting the MC19 front end I found was to remove the bottom bearing housing from the standard CB250rs stem and place it on too the MC19 stem which gave me a perfect fit as the two stems are the same length

    yokes

I'll be using standard cb250rs forks and bottom yoke for the moment until I can find some gb400 ones. So So i guess there could be a lot of trial and error involved trying to find a drop in replacment.
