    Calling all car painters

    Hi,
I would appreciate some advice from any professional auto repainters.
The drivers door on my car was dented and scratched (don't ask how). My car is a two tone white over silver. Only the white part of the door was damaged.
I got my insurance company to get it repaired. I picked up the car yesterday and had a quick look at the door and it was nicely repaired. This morning I cleaned the inside because there was paint dust everywhere. I decided to wash the car body to remove any paint dust. While washing I noticed that along with the drivers door, half of the passengers door was also painted and the transition has a visible amount of over spray (specks of paint) along with what looks like brush strokes. Also there is white overs spray all over the silver front bumper area and feels very rough to the touch.
    I am gutted.
What I would like to know from you, is there any way the over spray can be removed and how should I approach the people who did the work.
I want to be diplomatic and don't want to offend anyone. But I think the job is less than professional.

Take it back to the repairer. First, they should have returned the vehicle clean of paint dust. Second, there should be no overspray. OS is very easy to remove, but why should you do it? (I'm not a painter, but I am in the vehicle industry and deal with paint shops daily)

There are little pieces of bluetack type stuff they have... the name escapes me. Plucks overspray off very quickly. Don't do it yourself though, you've already paid to have it done, and if you stuff it up, you've no recourse.

Yup, what imdying say. Sure you can use a slightly abrasive polish to remove it, but that will affect the rest of the paint. The stuff imdying talks of I tried before and it's pretty damn good and efficient. Just add a bit of water, rub the bluetack (similar to a ball of bluetac) over the affected area and goodbye overspray. However, not your problem and don't make it so. Finishing off jobs in paint shops are quite regularly done by the 'boy', so the owner of the shop may not even be aware that's how the car left his premises.

    Thanks.
Is there a time limit before the overspray is permanent. I can't get back to the shop until Monday and it already feels stuck like shit to a blanket.
