He saw several mufti cops sitting at the bottom of passing lanes too.
Yep the detector will not save you all the time. I am due to be pinged and will take it with out to much protest as it is well over due. But that is why I have the ear plugs cos as soon as the thing beeps I hit the brakes hard. Very hard. Below 100 kmh every time. I don't need to see the bacon just hear it. once I am down to speed I start to look for it. If you brake very hard it seems to stop the tickets. I wait a while before I speed up again. Once I am down to speed I put my hand over the back of the detector to determine where the bacon is.
Always use your eyes and look hard for them. But the truth is the Escort has saved me way way more than it cost me. But I will get a ticket some time in the future. it is only a matter of time. I would rather go down for 120 than 180.

Some smart alex's wait till they see you then turn their radar on but if you hit the anchors quick by the time his radar settles down you will keep your licence. The cheap Cobra I have has kept me clean but dont always fit it cos I need ear plugs for it. Word of warning dont follow to close to Gixxer when he detects cos you'll disapear up his exhuast pipe when he hits his achors.

Yep you got that right. I always try and ride offset. The hard thing about having the detector is keeping the speed down. I like to ride out in the front but I do lead too fast and we are a slower riding group and must remember that.

All credit to MSTRS for keeping the speed at a good pace. Good self control MSTRS. It is good to have you out the front at the start of the rides cos it set's a good tone for the ride. Remember we need to train our newer riders. That's why Tart got this group together. And we have Chicky coming on so we need to get her up to speed. Ummmm I haven't seen Alice on a ride for a while. Still around? So Big G has a good point. Make room for other riders.

A point here. If one of us gets pulled over it is better for the rest of the riders to continue on. Maybe wait a few k's down the road or just head to our meeting place or home. How do you all feel about that?

Also pays to bunch up when the lights go on cos it is hard for the bacon to pick a bike out of a group than one on it's own. Again how do you feel about that

Thanks, Steve. I know I'm not as fast as you, but did you have to tell the whole world??
Dunno correct response from the group to a ping. I know some groups work on lead rider takes the hit, while others shuffle their order to confuse the cop.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

This is true. Mary Mooo and I got hit with instant on going past the lime works on SH1 8 months ago. We were around 150k. I braked very hard and we got the slow down finger from Mr Plod. That is the 5th time we have done that and got away with it. There are plenty of threads on here that explain why this works.

One other thing we do. if we get hit with instant on when car hopping I go across the lane to the very left of the road and try and brake the radar signal and brake to try and make sure the car behind me will not hit me. It has worked every time. But we seldom go more that 20-40 K over the limit when car hopping.

How do people ride with out one? I would be a nervous wreck.

I have seen you set a mean pace John. But I admire the way you lead this group. It is harder to lead at a slower speed for the group sake than blast away by yourself. The fact that this group rides together is why we have such a great time every week.

He can only do it, because he has had endless hours and ks of following/leading me.
I admire him greatly for his patience and self control, when, with a twist of the wrist he'd leave me for dead! He's great, ain't he?

    Time and place
Save a spot for me NEXT weekend
It's been a rough day. I got up this morning, put on a shirt and a button fell off.
As I ran out the door, I picked up my briefcase, and the handle came off.
Now I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.

Good point. My mate's friend stopped just in front of him on Saturday and they gave him a ticket too, saying, you were close to him so you must of been doing the same, yet they never clocked him.

    Yep, indeed.

I find it hard to tootle along at around the speed limit constantly and being behind John or Steve keeps me fine and makes me get used to it.
Not keen on leading as I tend to drift way over the limit without noticing quickly. Plus its good to follow the lines of different experienced riders and see how they do it and maybe use it to improve your own riding style.
