Had a great day at the Taupo track yesterday. Thanks to Rob and the team for making the day so much fun. We had a second in the first race. Pat has a vid to post up when he gets home. He left the track at speed at the start of the pit straight on the last lap. He was sick of following the lead bike and had a go at passing under brakes. The following maneuver was spectacular. Off in to the gravel followed by a side swipe of the tyre wall then a dirt bike sprint back out on to the track and a second placing. Scary stuff.

The second race gave us a second place as well. Stopped due to a nasty accident in lap 7. So SP took 2nd place for the day in the Street stock class. This was our anniversary of one years racing. What a great day. The racing was neck and neck all day and the Sp took the lead and lost the lead sometimes twice in a lap. Well done that man. SP is riding in the endurance race in Taupo today with Dan good luck people.

Time to get to work. Take care all. Lost my glasses. Blood hard to read the screen. I hate being old………..
Dam I missed a good day by the sounds of it, well done Paddy, who was the bloke you were diceing with. Good luck for to-day I hope dan can handle the 600.
Its not being old Steve its just that ya cant see.

Just a couple of dirt bikes mate.

She's got a late XLR125 Honda which is nice and low and pretty stress free.
Get her back to riding again. She had a TS125 & XL185S at our last place which was all flat but we sold them when we moved here 2 yrs ago.
    I had a TT350 Yammy.

I brought a DR350, love them. Mine has a big bore kit to 385, bigger carb, airbox, and a race exhaust system. It hauls.
Getting them all sorted today as we're heading up the Wairoa rd, just past Steve's place for new years eve where she's riding horses with her mates and the farm owner, and I'm gonna blast around on the beach and there.

If this was the one in the second to last race dont worry she is going to be ok, looks like there may have been some contact and she went down. I was one of the marshalls and went to help. We put her in the ambo just incase because she had a bit of a sore neck.

Glad the meet went well for you

Would need a step ladder to get on mate!

Modern dirt bikes are so freakin high now for us short asses.
I've lowered the rear shock on the DR and only can stand tip toe on one foot.
Can't get on it without a block of wood due to the hip thingy, but theres always banks etc around when you're on the dirt.

Did'nt know you had that George, could of been interested.

Today’s little stay at the track was the best. Dan and Pat rode the 1400, not 600 G, too the max. It was really wet and to keep it outa the kitty litter was a mission. You did well you two.
Congratulations to everyone that rode today. It was some of the best riding I have seen for a while in the worst conditions for a while. Top marks and we have some really talented riders her in NZ.

Yep you do look the part with the pit board Chicky. Remember how to get Patrick and Dan’s attention next time. It might take more than flapping a bit of white plastic in their faces, but I know you can do it.

Great ride up and back. Been up that road a few times in the last week. How will I live without it tomorrow.

I think I will drop back a grade at the track day on the 17th. I have a feeling I will get depressed when Dan and Pat passing me for the third time in the same session.

Hell life is good. Bikes are great and the people that hang around with them are even better. Just had to share that after such a great few days.

Hey Guys BIG Thanks to everyone who helped out this weekend and supported us out there at the track, it was an awesome weekend alright

The rider who finished 1st on the day of the spectacular was a south island fella from christchurch riding a NSR150, sorry his name has slipped my mind at the moment, but i do remember he was a 14 yr old who's about 30kg's lighter than me! It was quite frustrating riding with him as he'd hold me up in the corners and then just ride right around me on the straight bits

When i approached him after the second race to congratulate him on his win the first thing he said was "What happened to you?" it would appear that he flew straight through Two Red Flags before realising that the race had been stopped due to another fallen rider

I Finished Second overall though which is still a good result

The endurance race started out a little shakey for me, after dan had been out for the scrub in it started to pour down, i went out for the second qualifying and damn it was flooding, with no wet tires available for betty and rivers across the track everywhere it was Nana-styles everywhere, had an awesome lockup/slide/hairy moment into turn one on the first lap, realising that nope there's bugger all grip out here, and then again gently lost the rear exiting the L/H hairpin (turn 6) running wide out onto the grass at a pretty low speed but it was so wet there wasn't much else to do, better to run off the track at 45 deg to the white line than try stay on the track riding along it, re-joined and carried on as cautious as ever

Thanks to all you guys involved with Doohan Racing, you all know who you are, be it helping in the pits, spectating or just being around to give us the push in the right direction, it was great to look back at the last year and now see that exactly 12 months later i have 3 trophies to show for our efforts, it was you guys who did the hard work to get me the tools i needed to get the job done.

Big ups to Dan for the opportunity to Give Betty a blast, she's an interesting bike to ride alright, (some might even say we'd have to be Munters to enter on her hehe) BUT FINISH WE DID! got the finishers trophy to prove it , Cheers to the Guys at MotoTT who sorted us out with the pit shed and all other things for the endurance race, you guys kept us dry, warm and fuelled

I'll upload a video once i get back to my place in town, i'm at dads on the Dial up at the mo.

    Cheers Guys

    Paddy

It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever
