SWTFA is a learner and prolly won't be able to sustain any speed to stay with the group. Is a great ride, but as long as someone is prepared to take it real easy to stay with her, I think she wouldn't enjoy it.
I may be able to do something...will watch this space.
Voice up mate it shows you care for other bikers and learners out there but I dont plan on 150km+ speeds, assuming she can manage 100km that is fine. I have been in a few clubs and done dozens of rides outs in both small and large formations over my 15 years riding both here and in the UK, so the group i take out will be in formation with me bringing up the rear to look after learner riders, at this stage i have a pillion with me so i wont be doing any overly quick riding. Sure if people want to open it up on the straights and take off in front of the group that's fine with me, but anyone putting the rest of formation/group in danger with silly stunts and dangerous manoeuvres will swiftly get told to leave. I can assure you she will be well looked after. That said if it looks to all be well weather wise your welcome to join us too :-D

Thanks guys for your help John does know my riding ability (or lack of it) so I think it best I get more practice in before I try a group ride. I am definitely keen though come summer. I would like to meet more people for rides - it gets a liitle lonely on your own

oh noes you have been put off now, the only way to learn to formation ride is to formation ride :-D at the moment i have three other confirmed riders, if you come along you would be the forth and bearing in mind people drop in/out of rides all the time so its not that large a group it could up with three bikes with about four/five of us, obviously if others join us like john there will be more but at the moment its a small group of a few bikes. Up to you but it will be a good opportunity to learn to ride with a group of a few bikes rather than say a st john ambo ride with say 100 bikes.

Hey, I'm on holiday. I haven't ridden in a very long time...we could go for a wee pootle early next week if you are keen . Weather dependent of course, I don't 'do' cold, nor do I ride in the rain by choice, either! Let me know....
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans

If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...

Thanks Zippy - I will definitely take you up on this offer in the near future, and who knows - I might just turn up there yet (just got to find my balls)

Ok all you hardcore bikers i plan to go to Patangata pub for a light lunch maybe with a couple of others and your welcome to join in, more so is that i see alot of south island threads have there riders braving the cold by going out and putting the reputation of Hawkes Bay motorcyclists with our better winter weather to shame - the weather is predicted for "occasional showers" thought that can mean a few spits here or there so its nothing to be put off by, i suggest is that we meet at Havelock North BP on Sunday 8th July at 11am with plans to leave around 1115hrs. Its a 30 minute ish ride there so we will get there for a light lunch around 12pm( i have checked and they will be open). I imagine leaving about 1pm and yet to be decided on the day we may take the back road back to Havelock/Hastings. It would be good if i could get a idea on who is coming tomorrow if you could post here.

It will be a good opportunity for some to dust off there hibernating bikes and for some to learn a few damp road riding skills for the newer riders.

It will be a average paced ride keeping within the speed limits (ish)

    ...will decide 'on the day'...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

If it's a wof you're needing, (or if anyone else does) give Joshie a call at Puketapu Motors, 06 844 4997. Business is a bit quiet at the moment so shouldn't have any problems getting it done. Just tell him Paddy sent ya.
You can even perve at one or two classic race bikes while yer waiting

Plus for the newbies its not a bad idea to get a fellow motorcycle enthusiast to do your WOF as they know what they are looking at.

Only thing is to take cash as theres No Eftpos out there, but the shop/pub does

Been meaning to drop that tyre around too John, will you need it for wof?
