SPEED KILLS, BUT YOU GET THERE FASTER
DILLIGAF = Does it look like I give a FUCK - Hell no!
[QUOTE=Morepower;1129249389]Never had a problem with that road myself..
Well, don't count your chickens too soon sunshine - although you couldn't catch me much on Saturday - ha ha
NO it’s not the road.
It’s about riding to your own limits. I use to chase Dave all around the country and had a ball doing it at speed. Then as Dave picked up the pace I realised I couldn’t keep up and I didn’t want to take the risk. I also understand that fast riders need to be out and going at the speed that gives them the buzz.
It is simple really. If you are going to chase a fast group of riders grow some balls and ride at your own pace. This group is great company and look after each other. I saw you stop 3 times to regroup in the short time I was with you on the weekend. As long as everyone knows where the ride is going we will all end up at the same place.
I accept that I can’t ride at the speed of the fast guys/girls and can’t afford the recovery time if I crash cos I would loose the business, and I am an old fart that will take a long time to heal, so I scoot along at the back and still have a great ride. Come on people if we keep fallin off we will have no one to ride with. Grow some balls and do what you feel happy doing. Go flat out if you want to or slot in to the middle or scoot along at the back. Ride to your ability not your ego
Makes no difference at the end of the day but just get out and ride as a group of Hawkes Bay riders.
rant over![]()
You are absolutely right - that is what I have always done - and I'm not always in the front couple - depends on how I feel on the day too. I have ridden Middle Road for 10+ years and its great, but I have known many who have come off too.
I agree, just get out there and ride to your ability and yeah, we try to re-group, (I know what its like to be at the back too)![]()
Wise words Steve yer old bugga.
I reckon this is a pretty cool group we all ride with now, and speaking for myself, I love giving it heaps and riding briskly (But never exceeding 100 kph). But I also sometimes like taking it easy, depends on how I feel, and mood etc.
And its great how we regroup and know where we're going.
As you say, each to their own pace, and thats how it should be.
Also, like you, being an old bugga, (but not as old as you) I feel the aches and pains of over 30 fractures and getting real close to my orthopaedic surgeon in the last few years, that sometimes I hold back a bit and am aware of recovery periods of injuries, not just on the body but work.
But, all that aside, aint it great to ride our roads here and ride with folk with similar outlooks on bikes...............
I'm having the time of my life.
Long may it continue!!!
(Touch wood...taps head.)
Mmmmmmmmm all senable reading keep back from brain explosions when riding eH! As you get older your reaction time is slower maybe only thou of a second so ride at your reaction pace, all in all it is good to get out in a big group and have some fun.
