Meanwhile, in drought-ravaged Africa and other less fortunate parts of the Third World, people are dying by the thousands every day, many of them due to various forms of poisoning. It's interesting that they are apparently valued less than a bunch of sick birds in Auckland.

    • Visit this park - kids love the birds
    • My niece and nephew love the birds in this park
    • Killing the birds upsets children
    • The kids that actually saw the dead birds will be very upset
    • If you have no problem with the act of poisoing the birds in the park then you are problably like the person who did it - either incapable of seeing consequences, or inconsiderate of others.

The best thing for them would be to have Europeans running their countries again.

And to rid themselves of the catholic church.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

I'm sorry, so what you're saying is that someone worried about a bunch of birds being poisoned cant also be worried about the plight of third world occupants?

Although I suppose you are in some way right. I dont care too much about a nation that cant figure out that it needs to find another past time than rooting and overpopulating itself in less than desirable conditions.

Or are you talking about the pharmacuetical companies testing their wares on unsuspecting third world people? Bit of a shit thing to do, agreed. Or perhaps lets talk about the apathy the world has in regards to Zimbabwe...or the countless other things you could choose to bring up....or lets just take a moment to discuss one "little" thing that happened recently in one of our parks and the mentality of the twat that did it?

I'm certain what you have to worry about is FAR more important than anyone else so feel free to spit it out.

I thought that a discussion about a few dead, allegedly poisoned, birds in Auckland needed a bit of a perspective, prior to a lynching party being appointed. I didn't see any evidence of vigilante justice being considered in relation to the deprevation of our brothers and sisters in circumstances more dire than ours.

Disturbingly, people get more outraged by news items like this, or pictures of some cruelly maimed kitten on the six o'clock news, than they do about domestic violence.

I hope that this explanation doesn't unnecessarily hinder the progress of your onanism.

I don't give a fuck about people, let alone people who live in another country. Animals are always innocent they never intened malice or hold grudges they just do what they do. I would always choose animals over people. If a house was burning down and there was a dog and people trapped inside i'd go rescue the dog. fuck people. Yeah I would lynch the fucker who poisoned the birds
    edit: there are exceptions though.

Its a little more solid than alleged. A person taking upon themselves the role of the peoples executioner is fine if they are targetting Sue Bradford et al, however when they aim at things that not everyone wants actioned then there's an issue. Throwing around poison...albeit farely week poison...in a public place is abhorrent and I definately support the cunt getting lynched.

I'd challenge you on people getting more upset about this than other issues too. A persons compassion does not need to be restricted to only one area of life. Detracting from one issue while promoting another simply shows that you are in fact the person who dispise, blocking out parts of the world to focus only on the areas you choose to be important enough for your attention. To this end, this isnt about being onanistic, this is about chatting...on a forum...to people who may have an opinion on the subject rather than an opinion on themselves.

I don't give a rat's arse about kids dying in overseas countries - there, I've said it. Most of them should never have been born in the first place and I'm sure most rational people would not bring children into the world if they were not able to provide for them. But I digress...

I eat meat and I wear leather, so I am not a tree-hugging vegan, but the thought of someone deliberately poisoning birds in a public area where they have until then roamed freely, disturbs me. The poisoned grain has a legitimate purpose, for getting rid of pest birds in a farming situation. The fact that some low life decided to use it to poison birds in a public park is the issue here. And they did say on the news that if a cat or dog ate the poisoned birds, they could become ill, so it does potentially have wide ranging consequences.

Oh, and by the way, I am a journalist - NOT a lazy one like the ones discussed... It's likely because they lifted a sentence from someone else's report that the editor decided to list all the names. Pathetic though, I agree.

I think I mentioned something about journalists...but its most likely an unfair attack as journalists must regularly take the brunt of decisions made further along the editorial process.

That said, I stand by the comment that, as with many (if not all) industries, that there are some lazy journalists out there. I regularly finish reading an article wondering why some basic questions were missed, as I'm sure you do (especially you considering your professional interest)...but I digress...
