What system are Orcon advertising - a rehashed telecom, or are they going the wired country route?
Curious, coz Im in the same sit. as Quasi.

ugh, I know the people that own and run Orcon... They aren't my favourite people, but I know of a lot worse. A lot of it depends on how reliant on support you are. If you're technically inclined, and don't need much helpdesk support, vendors like Paradise will probably suit you.
People like to bag Telecom and Xtra (myself included), but Telecom does run the underlying network. If you know a few Telecom engineers and can bypass their frontline helpdesk monkeys, you can get some fast & very clued on support. I deal with their corporate support on a regular basis and they're ok guys.
I've spent many hours on the phone talking the helpdesk staff of providers like iHug and telling them how to fix problems with their own network!

I know a few guys in telescum and they were saying that the reason it isnt limited yet is because the technology isnt in place to throttle back yet. they suggested that its a good idea to use it while you can because no doubt TC will put it in place as soon as they sus out how to

1/ What High Speed do you use
2/ How much space do you buy ( I see there are different plans based on how much you download)
3/ Are there any other alternatives?

    Cheers

i think your 115.5 is a baud ratemesurement, u can use scripts on your modem that report true connection rates in k's

after many months of going over the 10gb limit without restriction, they have finally restricted my connection from 246 to 64kbps this month with another 20 days to go before the start of the next monthly usage period.

Yeah I think they must be cracking down now the new plans have come into effect. Our Jetstream has been running like a dog today too (pissing me off so I came into work instead). Guess we must have the same problem!

Does anyone know about the Paradise Lightspeed internet? It looks pretty fast, well, very fast, but it only has a 1gb limit before you have to pay more i:

Only reason is becasue Mum wants to keep the current paradise crap, even though my little borther only uses the saturn TV to watch Cartoon Network
