Is the Roof Boxer (E2 Cert) legal on New Zealand roads?

The chin guard flips right up and around to 'rest' on the rear part of the helmet whereas the visor only rotates enough to clear the open part of the helmet. so you could ride with the chin flipped up but the 'drag' at higher speeds may be uncomfortable or even dangerous in the event of a spill?
I only ride with it flipped up while poodling around town or through traffic.

Havent seen any for sale in NZ - bought mine in UK.

No cop ever is ever going to check to see your helmet is the right one.

In my experience - only if you are a twat. But then half the cops don't know what the heck to look for when it comes to bikes and bikers anyway.

Okay from whatit may seem i have a french approved helmet(they ride like maniacs in france so its probably okay)

i think the example given by nz land and trans is just that,an example, as the number given is for italy.

It sounds a bit silly, but i just wanted it to be legal as i havnt seen any on nz roads.

The nz number would be E48 (i dont know if we make any helmets but it would have been a better example. or at least saying they used an italian marking example)

I thought they said you must wear a helmit and left it at that ... the rest is your choice ... although I don't think helmits can be sold in NZ unless they meet international/national certifications as they are deemed to be safer.

Yep, the link to LTSA was on the first page. It must meet one of the international standards. Personally, if you were only buying and importing for personal use, I don't think they would bother to check.

Incidentally, good time to buy in USD at the moment. What with the Kiwi flying.......

I got a boxer - great concept - not carried off very well.
Bit noisy, fogs up a bit and the press studs to secure the chin piece are a bitch.

This pretty much agrees with what one of the BIKE journos wrote except he was harder on the propensity of the helmet to fog, and on the useless studs.

The best thing about his helmet was that he had Dave Jefferies' autograph on it, so he retired it as a collectors piece.

Tigress was a 250cc 4 stroke twin, yep. Fast , over 70mph, but not too reliable, even by the standards of the day. From memory they had some weird carb, that noone could ever get right. For some reason the Brits always seemed to go apeshit with carbs on their small bikes, fitted weird incomprehensible untunable things.

I thought the Sunbeam had a 175 two stroke engine from the BSA Bantam, with the same body as the Tigress.

But there was a Triumph Tina , too. Can't remember much about that.

The Bantam motor was never used in a scooter...They all had fans as enclosed motors had a habit of overheating without forced air cooling.
As far as I know the Tigress/Sunbeam motor was exclusive to these two scooters.
The first scooter that didn't have a fan was the Victa, a smaller version of the Rabbit. (First Japanese scooter to come into NZ.)

ive also got a 175 tigress based on the bantam engine,so they did have a 2 stroke version.

I had a 250 and as far as I know, they were the only 4 stroke, 2 cylinder scooter around. Mine went well, at least I thought so. Handled 2 up pretty good as well. Good memories of it.
