Yeah, scracha - nix with the "gonna shoot burglars in the nuts".
You probably are, but the nice man at the police station will explain to you when you start your firearms licence application process that the current state of NZ law is such that owning weapons for self-defence purposes is not legitimate.
By all means buy a nice collection of guns and include in it an 18" 12-gauge pump that may or may not generally be somewhat more accessible in the home than your other, securely-stored, weapons, but you gotta learn to keep repeating the "I'm-a go hunting" PC mantra.
Anyway, you do realise that shooting a burglar when he's not actually posing a violent threat to you or your family will probably land you in jail in just about any jurisdiction worldwide, don't you?
Even in US states that support the "castle doctrine" of home defence, one still can't go apeshit on intruders with firearms. I quote from the relevant Wikipedia page:
The law still requires citizens to articulate the ability, opportunity and intent of an attacker to do grave bodily harm to a person exercising his or her right to self-defense.
So you can't go killin' a man because he stole your bike.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
