    Learning German

    Does anyone know a good place that does night classes for beginers?

    Dein lokales polytech versuchen. Das christchurch polytech hat Nachtkurse, aber sie beginnen am Anfang von Semestern.

    No, but let me know if you find any. We have Germans here quite often and I'd love to be able to have a little bit of a chat with them in their own language. I bought a CD but haven't used it yet - oops!

    Try your local high school/college as they all seem to run community courses of an evening. Failing that, your local polytech would be a good starting point.

    I took night classes there before a stint in Austria - recommended.

    I learnt some German at school and brushed up before going on me OE, it was actually bloody useful on the continent. If we couldnt find someone who spoke English there was occasionally someone who spoke German...

    Sprechen Sie Deutsch?


    Anyway this chick I was travelling with ... who was blonde incidentally .... asked me one day why I kept asking people if they spoke Dutch?
