Claris is the main airport, Okiwi's further to the north, and far more beautiful - also blessed with one of NZ's best surf bars. Tryphena is where Mum lives, she has around 10 or 12 acres there.

We flew up from Rotorua in a Cessna....mate was a pilot back then (ironicly he was killed in a plane crash not long after) i remember a party happening on the beach...kids and parents thing, they were using a Digger as a merry go round for the kids...they sat in the bucket....island dwellers aye?...

LOL sounds about right, seen that done a couple of times. It's good fun actually!

Tis a beautiful spot over there, and it's proximity is one of the benefits of living in Auckland. Just a shame most Aucklanders never bother to go, and think its just another Waiheke. It's more like taking a trip back in time 100 years, back to NZ the way it used to be before civilisation ruined it!

A couple of other pics below, don't have that many here at work to share.
bit of a stretch calling Okiwi an airport......

Only when Mr Hertz lets me. I keep ending up driving blue Fords in Auckland and the main thing I notice about the Mondeo (Zetec and all) is it has no grunt for a car that size. We went down as far as Whakatane in it and on the Kaimais coming back from the Mt man you gotta work the auto gearboxto keep it vaguely moving.
    Cheers

Yeah i have a manual wagon that work gives to me for my pleasure... I've obviously spent too many km's in it to recognise the speedo in your photos...
The secret to overtaking requires 3rd gear, lots of revs and lots of run up :P

Damn you Dave... now I know its my head, considering I have the exact same camera (you'll have nicer lenses I would imagine, which makes a diff)

Make sure your CF card isn't the slow point in the link, if you are bursting shots, or something like that. I'm using a 2GB Kingston ultimate... very good. Raw bursting, and its still doing 2-3+ fps

now I have to learn to edit pics, and have enough hard drive space

    18-55 and 55-200 'ultrasonic'.
    Got a 1gb card and a 500mb as backup.
Happy with the burst rate for what I do.

    Photoshop is our friend.

Storage is cheap now. Back when I started a huge hard drive was 20mb. Now each pic is bigger.

mmm, nice combo, 55-200 are supposed to be good, depending on which model etc. I have the kit (18-55) then a cheapo 75-300 usm, no auto-focus, so I got it cheap cheap.

you're showing your age a bit and yes, the pics will be a tad bigger. Raws for this camera, given its a 10.1MP are somewhere between 8-10MB.

I know what it is you mean too.

But No there is something very right about that bike. It's quite unique - it's an 'Urban Adventure Bike.'

Report next month - but I really really rate it. It makes me grin - a lot.

But still, that ones not yours right? Yours is round the corner out of the shot cause it would darken the image too much?

yeah - the auto focus is pretty fast - my man talked me out of the 300 - after telling what I do. Looks like it was good advice.

whats pissing me off is i cant buy a lens hood for it. it gets bad sun or tungsten flares and nobody in nz has a plastic johnny to fit
