Question Shifting house, Tokoroa to Coldstream, Hinds.

My son is shifting from Tokoroa to Coldstream, Hinds. ie South Island. June 1.
Any ideas from those of you in the know as to the cheapest / best way of getting a small to normal house lot of furniture down there?

We are currently pricing, container lease and furniture truck hire.

    Any other ideas welcome.

    Cool

See if there is a 'backload' available at the time your boy is shifting.

Meaning: sometimes there is space on the back of a big truck shifting furniture down that way..... that way it costs you a lot less to move it all.

Other option is to hire a smallish truck and take it all down yourself...
a nice way to see him all settled in as well.
But if you do this option, make sure that you take a HUGE box full of tissues for his mother (meon3) to use..... cos she will be blubbering, leaving her baby down there in the south island without her to cook for him and to do his laundry..... etc etc...

Problem is almost all Furniture trucks booked for June 1! Looking like container hire may be the go.

Even if we got a 4-6 tonne truck, $1000 mileage, $150 day hire, plus diesel, ferry crossing. And then I'm not cheap, contrary to what I have been told.
