PTR [Poo's Team Racing] race report-learnt by kickingzebra!!

This was my first race since October last round of vic series.
I was umming and arrrrghing about racing to begin with…and since I’ld been doing some
Trash talking online I thought I better enter and turn up..lol
I was a bit apprehensive to start with on the day as I’ld not really been riding bugger all over the last few months..had one ho hum track day at manfield and a MOTT trackday at taupo and a couple of road rides on other peoples bikes since October.
Also I had been rather lazy with bike prep and it was still setup how it was for trashy to ride at the wairarapa hillclimb…which the suspension and geometry had been changed a lot for.

Meet up with Fizzaman and flame on hw1 and we traveled up in tandem…making sure that I was in front so fizzaman could get used to seeing the rear of my bike

Got to Kiwifruits place about 7 something o clock something and sort our shit a lil
And head off to town to meet up with the rest of the crew that were racing from team bent spanner, etc for a few drinks and a feed…

Got up far to fucking early on sun morning and got to the track and there was next to nobody there…which is very very odd as I’m usually fashionably late!! Unload the bike
Then start pondering why the hell I hadn’t prepped the bike better..Lol..but I still couldn’t be bothered too much…as I was happy just getting back out and getting back in the racing grove again before the vic winter series…pass scrutineering and set the bike up on the stands with the warmers…got a few tools out and stiffened the suspension up a bit not a lot…thinking we’ll see how things go as I’m not expecting myself to do that well.

Went out in practice for F1…doodled around following a motard scrubbing my tyres in.
And sighting the track a bit…remembering where things go..and getting used to the bike again and how it was feeling..it was turning way to quick for me and squatting a fair bit on the gas…

First race came up and I didn’t know where on the grid I was ment to be [no qualifying as such with PMCC it base on points and previous race results] so pulled onto the inside of row three [13th or 14th]…watching the wrong flag I creped for a second then pulled the clutch in and then suddenly everyone else launched…buggar!!! Buggar!!
Off we all went…passed a few bike pretty quick…slotted in behind nicko and fizzaman
As we worked through traffic a bit moving up a few spots every lap…then fizz had a moment and toddled off to the grass for a sightseeing expedition and nicko started to get a move on after that…I was holding on to him as best I could a knew I was quicker through the infield and on the brakes…but I didn’t have the balls to pass him on the infield at anytime and it wasn’t until the left right left coming on to the pit straight I decided to have a go under brakes and dived in the inside on the first left and I missed dropping down a gear and so I dabbed the rear brake on hard to help things a bit and did a bit of a
Wobbly slide to make the corner and can over the line just ahead of him…5th place

Race two…got a better start but still not as good as most of the guys behind me and had trashy trying to come around the out side of me into turn one with fizzaman trying to go around both of us [very ballsy!!] so I just casually made myself drift a lil bit wide to make them both stay where they should!!!
Moving through traffic again [which is something I seriously need to work on as I’m crap at it…although I think my judgment is out a fair bit for passing] I caught up to nicko again and within a lap he got passed vtec and it took me a bit longer…I got passed him on the last lap under brakes into turn one and started to reel in kickingzebra [who has gotten soooooo fast over the last year….all the track time must be doing you some good eh dude!!] but next thing flags out…4th place.

Race 3…well...finally figured out I was allowed to start on the front row of the grid based of previous races…so lined up on the inside after a lengthy wait on the dummy grid…
All amped and ready to rock thinking I’ll do a lot better because I didn’t have so much traffic to get through…seemed pre mature thinking really coz I stuffed the start something chronic…straight into a wheelie..lol...anyway…got through some traffic caught up to kickingzebra whose bike became very very wide…Lmao!! [good skills bro..lol] but I knew where I was going to get him next lap and backed of a tick to get some momentum going…and well…I think I got to much momentum because coming through the tyre chicane far to hot braking bloody hard I pull straight up into a rolling stoppie..lol..and dropped fast thinking I would make a turn…no way..brakes back on and rolling stoppied in to the tyre wall [by then not going very fast] and me and the bike fell over…and I just got up and jumped out of the way because there had been a few crashed there during the day not bothering to try rejoin…so I watched the lads ride around for the last lap..lol..buggar!!!

So all in all was a pretty good meeting…I was pretty happy how I went!

Big thanks to Kiwifruit for putting us up for the night!!! Cheers bro!!

And big thanks to Alltrax, dave Anderson Suzuki

Lookin forward the the vic winter series!!! See you all there!!
