After the nats so still a sucker for punishment & keeping up time on the track. Wrist is feeling better & Taupo was first meet I haven't worn a brace on the wrist for & luckily the short races were not too bad to manage so can't use that one for an excuse any more - doh!
Puke AMCC, fresh from the nats 2 weeks earlier used it as a chance to further my setup for some of the bumpy parts of the circuit. Good meeting, got pole in F1 & F2 and placed 1st, 2nd, 1st in F1 and 1st, 1st 1st in F2. Raced on some ex-nats tyres and was doing consistant 61's which was good for the meet and promising for when I put some new rubber on. Good dices with Neil Martin in F1 and Dave Manuell in F2.
Taupo PMCC yesterday, some good fun was had! Used the meeting as a chance to try some new things including running Dunlop 209's, happy with the Metzelers Racetechs but good to try new things. Bike felt like riding a wooden plank till I had found some decent settings, the 209's have a very rigid sidewall and structure and mean you have to run a lot softer setting than usual, managed to get the feel of them and a semi-ok setup as I went on through the day. Had a ball racing alongside the other KBers, great riding by Vtec, Phil, Jonno, Cowpoos, Fizzer, Whitetrash, Aff etc and some very dodgy riding by Vtec, Phil, Jonno, Cowpoos, Fizzer, Whitetrash, Aff etc!
Got 5th, 2nd, 2nd in F1 & 2nd, 1st, 1st in F2, thought day was over when I blew a hole in my exhaust pipe during practice (weld around oxygen sensor blew out resulting in a hole the size of a ten cent piece!) but managed to hose clamp some aluminium cans around it to finish the day...minta!
Highlight of the day was seeing Fizzerman near low/highside round the infield right hander - so low sparks off footpegs & grazes on fairings but caught it on flick up & just ran off track - nice work!!!
