Back on topic, I reckon that the enjoyment of music lost something when one had to stop getting up to turn a record over at its midway point.

Does anybody (else) remember those stacker players? And double LP sets where one album contained sides 1 and 3 and the second sides 2 & 4, so you turned the whole set over, rather than having to fanny around with individual records?

And Jamesons is a vatted malt. It doesn't cut it in the "true" single malt stakes, I'm sorry.

All other shit aside Big Dog, That is probably the most poetically lyrical I have ever heard you, well done.
    Just count me as jealous.

    I remember 78 rpm.

It's not meant to cut it. But at $40/litre, it doesn't have to.

    Oh the mirth.
To be honest I did not care if the original post was ever read, or replied to.
I just wanted to record for posterity how last nights ride made me feel.

Some times the correct diction does not say what you want said. In these instances I feel it is appropriate to colloquialise.
While I do feel it is appropriate to correct someones diction from time to time I feel it only appropriate when done without malice and when there is no fault of your own.

Freedom of speech allows us to grow, provided we actually listen to the others around us.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Am I offended by the blatant hijacking.
    No.

Sometimes that is even better is it not?
Nothing like feeling the needle slip into the groove.
Dad used to have a copy of Bat Out Of Hell on vinyl.
There was a slight imperfection on the outer ring. Manufacturing fault I think, years later I happened across another copy with the same imperfection.

Get your line wrong and the most awful racket would pour fourth but when the needle slipped in to the groove and the song of the same name leapt out at you your pulse quickened, you breathe normally again.

Somehow the perfect copies I have had on tape, CD and iPod since have never lived up to the magic of getting past that rut into the groove.

For me it was the loss of the whole ceremony of taking the record from the sleeve, the search for cryptic messages in the run-off track (Another Porky's prime cut!) the loving wipe with the cleaner of your choice, reverentially placing on the turntable and then....The Lowering of the Needle

Everything about CDs is just rubbish....shrunken cover art, horrible cheap plastiky case, stick the disc in the drawer, hit a button....hit skip...hit skip....bah.

Just in case anyone wondered why it says "Luddite" up there...

And somewhere, a band played on...

Just got back from watching The Labyrinth of Pan (spanish film) at Sylvia Park. Nice cinemas there, think I will watch all my movies there from now on! The film got me thinking about a lot of things, utimately, it always came back to this here post by Big Dog!

I had a great ride back, even though the moronway was closed off for the usual unjustified repairs and maintenance. I don't actually recall making any conscious actions when I was riding Daisy back! I was aware of all the other cages, usual road hazards and all ... but just had the most magical feeling pulling up to home, doffing the lid and thinking ... "Whoa! For a short ride home, that was an awesome ride!"

I dunno if it was the movie, BD's post or a combo of the two! So into that groove where you are just "feeling" it Hard for me to go to sleep now 'cause of it!

Aieee! Big Dog - what have you done to me? I've got that feeling ... that makes me want to go dancing on the ceiling!

    Maior Canine! Et tu salutant!
