    I'm hooked!!

I woke up extremeeeely early this morning excited like a little kid at christmas coz today was the day to get my bike
Finally at a respectable hour to get up and head over to motomail and pick up my boots, then on back to the North Shore to Spectrum where Grant and the guys decided it would be cruel to make me wait until they closed to deliver her on the back of the ute ( no way in hell I wanted to take on Barrys Point road just yet) so Grant followed me back to my place on my bike while I drove my car **sending mental messages to other road users to farking stay away from my bike**
Dropped him back at the shop and picked up the ugly yellow plate then dashed back to my place and geared up straight away.
Then promptly stalled several times in my driveway!
Got on the road and got her up to speed, straights, corners and empty roundabouts are all fun, got to a busy intersection where theres a free left turn pointing down hill if no traffics coming, bloody cars everywhere, stopped stalled and almost dropped the bike
Got to a carpark and practised my turns and stops, that got boring after a while so took a ride through Albany Industrial area which was reasonably empty lots and lots of fun!!
I only came home coz dark clouds started to drift over and wasnt too keen to make my first ride a wet weather one.
All in all im in love with my bike and can't wait to get out there again tomorrow morning.
P.S I'm sorry if any of you were behind me when I stalled.. a few times at different intersections. lol any tips for not doing that?

Just remember... Practice makes perfect... I notice if I'm nervous I'll stall... Relax and take your time..

    Most of all... Enjoy!!!

Congratulations. There's nothing quite like the excitement of getting a new bike, something that will continue through all the bikes you own. Enjoy.

AWESOME write up - your excitement is leaping off the screen and would be contagious for me if I had a bike!!! (Oh yes and a couple of limbs that were healed )

Well done on the new bike too - looks pretty cool

Check that your idle speed is not set too low (or get someone else to check), make sure your bike is warmed up and ......Practice - practice and then more practice

Will definatly be making my way to Wednesday nights soon, might stick a little closer to home this week though. Guess I'd better get out for a ride one night to know how I'll handle riding back from Westgate to the Shore in the dark.

We meet at westgate, and as it is getting darker earlier now we usually go to a practice area in Albany near the stadium as there is a well lit carpark for us to practice.

Have a look at the thread, and let me know if you would like an escort from a KB mentor if you are worried about riding on your own in the dark and I will organise one for you.

you got a GPX250! you poor thing! No, honestly they are good leaner bikes. If you want to make it really sexy two bros and i believe yoshimura also make aftermarket exhaust pipes for them, dont listen to the people that say "dont waste money on your 250" i say go for it and be different!

Best of luck with you learning phase, get along to RRRS, if you dont already know about it get in touch with "the stranger".

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Wooo! just got back from my second ride.
Rode up along East Coast road, Thought about going through to Torbay for an icecream just coz I could but I didn't really want to stop, was having way too much fun.
Highlight were definately Oteha Valley Road and Old albany highway where I got to get her up to 70km, oh and getting nodded at by other riders obviously I don't look as stupid as I was feeling yesterday.
I only stalled once today *note to self DUH! of course you need more wrist for a hill start*
All the cagers were even playing nice, guess thats coz of my big ugly L plate
