    Transponders for Vic Club, etc.

How many have bought a transponder for road racing like the ones Vic Club are (were?) selling?

I take it that these can be used for clubs which use that timing system as well as the Nationals?

Seems like a pretty good idea to get one, since even PMCC said that they'll be using transponders next year (assuming that they stick to the standard system used by the rest of NZ)

We use AMB. So they can be used at Nationals, PMCC (if they use transponders), Street Races etc....

But you MUST have the TranX260 model. The other models will not cope with the speeds of road racing.

There's some rechargable ones left, but i think we might have sold out of direct powered ones.

Hi guys. Yes unfortunately the MX model will not work (so AMB say anyway), owing to different speeds over the magnetic trigger wire. But I think that means that the TranX260 will work with slower applications (don't quote me on that).

As of Monday VMCC have 8 transponders left.

Yes, and this is an important issue, in the NEAR FUTURE all riders will need to own their own transponders. The Tim Gibbes Timing Ltd ones will soon not be available due to age and difficulty of dishing them out time after time.

Yes, another cost to go racing.
    C'est la vie I guess.

the mx transponders are much cheaper to buy, they will work together but the mx ones top out at about 120kph, so are no good for road racing,

Also, was gonna get a MNZ race license prior to the Vic Club winter series but am I right in thinking it expires in July so I'd be as well sticking with day license(s) until then?

Anyone know how much they are normally. If I'm in the PMCC would I just be cheaper joining the Vic club too (can I do this?).

This stuff is like rocket-science. How the hell do racers without the interweb find out all this $hit?

It would work out better if you joined vic club and bought a transponder and also competed. i think entry fees are cheaper if you are a memeber

you want to buy transponders the normal way, you have to get them from AMB in Australia

    here

vic club got these in to try and encourage members to get transponders, we are not a reseller and are not making any money off it and passing the bulk discount on again.

If there is enough interest, then we will do another order, but we got very little up front interest first time and took a big risk by ordering 30 transponders which we had to pay for up front. and if we do another order it will take a couple of weeks for everything to come in and to clear customs and get gst paid etc.

Yip and as we worked out it is cheaper to own one than hire one for the season,

You also have to remember if its the nationals etc which is 2 days its 2 days worth of hireage which is 60 dollars.

And another advantage of owning the transponder is you start a AMB racer account and all your results from that transponder get logged into your account
