Have you tried wises.co.nz
SMAPS (www.smaps.co.nz) is good too.
Bear in mind that unlike the rest of the British Empire, there were no ordinance surveys done of New Zealand, so the maps are a bit dodgy and may in some places not match up exactly with actual GPS coordinate.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Or www.smaps.co.nz I prefer that one personally.
Let me know if you need to borrow a map or two (paper ones). I'm sure we can find something at home.
When are you through?
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details
Google Maps is another with the added coolness of overlaying the google earth satellite photos when you click the hybrid mode. So you can see photos of the actual street, buildings, landmarks etc eg here is lambton quay
Being american based you need to type extra city and country info sometimes, or you can log in and set your default home.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. My plan is to take copious quantities of photos while I'm there, match em up with a program that aligns the time stamps on the GPS tracks I make with the time stamps on my photos. That way, I'll know where I was for each picture. I can then upload the photo to Flickr, and it will put it on the right place on the Flickr map.
See: http://www.flickr.com/map
It should all work well, except that the Flickr (Yahoo) maps are what they are... I'll have to figure out a way to link to one of the other mapping services you guys mentioned.
I searched, but can't find any indication of when Yahoo will update their maps for New Zealand. It must be on their "roadmap"!
