    GSXR250 carbs

Ok, the bike shop (WMCC) has told me that my carbs are shagged on my 88 GSXR250, and that they are gonna need new internal parts eventually. Its running mint at the moment, but I would like to get this sorted. Does anyone know what its prolly gonna cost me to have the carbs' internals replaced? Is it worth trying to find second hand carbs in good nick?

Does any have any carbs that are in good nick?

    Thanks

    You have 4 carbs right?

On my GSX250s , I had one out of my 4 replaced about a year ago. And it only cost me $34 dollars I think. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Don't take my word for it though, im probably wrong

AFAIK, they are the same carbs as the GSX400X Impulse - pile of crap Aisains. You can't get parts for them easily, and they are cack anyway.
I wouldn't touch it until it is a problem, or look around for some Impulse carbs. Better yet, and 400 Impulse motor is pretty much a bolt in fit in those 250 models...

    I got 1, 29mm Mikuni for my GSX250s , new for $34

$467 is expensive.. for fixing a jet. Let alone all of them. I wouldn't have been happy with a expense such as that.

Best you can do, is go to a Suzuki dealer and ask them for a quote.

Bitch at them if you think that is expensive.

Did they say that all the jets are going to need replaced?

They just said the carbs will need new internal parts... so I'm guessing thats everything...

The carbs are Mikuni BSW27 according to the owners manual...

Why would you want to do that? I guess if you went really steep hills all the time, fuel injection would be better.

Sure it is possible. Ive seen websites with Japanese people that inject their 250ccs , and make them turbo.

But , just go to your Suzuki dealer. And get them to give you a quote on the Mikuni.

Hopefully you don't have to pay anything like $467.

One of my jets wasn't responding fast enough under full throttle. ie. acceleration after 130kmph, wasn't as fast as it should be. And it was really cheap to fix.

I hope your carb problems. ( or future ) problems, are sorted out cheaply

Ok scratch getting my carbs fixed. I've attached a quote from WMCC of what its going to cost. Carbs from a wreckers will be $280 not including cost of fitting/tuning. But thats unknown condition, for all I know they could be rooted too. I dont want to pay $1100 to have my carbs fixed, but then I dont want to pay to have duds installed. WMCC said they will check over any carbs I give them, but I doubt wreckers will offer refunds if they are screwed.

Does anyone know of someone selling GSXR250 parts and have a good set of carbs?

I'm going to ring around the wreckers and see what they have and if they'll take them back if they are going to need major work done.

What about some "other" modern carbs and making custom manifolds? Even two carbs with a 1:2 manifold?

I think that's the bucket racer in me getting out and making suggestions.

Or what about a turbo with only one carb? You'd probably be able to do it for less than the $1000 for a new set of carbs. I've got this tiny little turbo that only cost $175.
