Put it in gear then rock it back or forward then try starting it off the starter again. I think that happens when the bushes/brushes in the starter motor wear out.

Check the battery, either jump start or remove & charge it

thanks for that. the battery is pretty new, and was recently charged so I dont believe that to be the issue... but you never know. Interested in the first response too, definitely will try that.

Could be the starter solenoid, give it a tap with a hammer & try again

Had the same problem on one of my bikes. Long story short the starter motor was poked, a new second hand one fixed the problem.

Thanks for the input. Turns out to be a stuffed battery. Jumpstarted off the car no worries. I didnt look at it cos the battery looks new (and reads 13V no load) but it obviously hasnt got the grunt to turn the thing over. New battery this week and sorted.

Pays to check the simple stuff first, right?

    Thanks again.

check the voltage across the batery when the engine is running and you give about half revs, it shouldnt be more then 14.5 otherwise bateries(and everythign else) can start to cook.

Henry. As advised, check the voltage while it's running.
You could be throwing good money after bad if it's not getting a full charge. Sticking in new batteries every month can get expensive.

    Hi

NC30 are prone for Regulator faults so check properly like others say.
Otherwise they cook the battery and Igniter.
If that's happens you will be broker than Zimbabwe!

    Cheers
