Motorbikes fall under any number of these categories, and I think it's great to wave at each other. If the other rider doesn't wave back, well don't take it personally. Like others have said, they might not have noticed, and if they did, after 2 or 3 other waves, they might feel like there's something wrong with THEM, and start waving back.

Now I don't expect any of you to wave at me on a scooter, and if you did, I'd probably bin it right there, so I'm reluctant to initiate a wave.

I used to have a 1965 Series IIA shorty Landrover - It is like the super tough grandaddy (the "Don") of most defenders, and I got universal acknowledgement from other Landy drivers for driving the vehicle that created the legnd that the current generation are based on.

Or it could just have been astonishment that the old bucket of bolts was still driving at all...

what if you only had one arm?! - then you couldn't wave...even if you wanted to...well you could if you were not accelerating at the time but wouldn't it be a little harder to do?

anyways...i always try to wave or nod. i don't mind if people don't do the same back...i ride for the enjoyment not the recognition.

1. HD don't wave as they're scared that the handlebars will come off!
2. Honda riders haven't found the HondaWave button yet.
3. Yamaha riders think they'll look like some prog-rock keyboard player.
4. Suzuki riders are trying to hold on as their bike just won't slow do...w.......n....
5. Kawasaki riders would but your not green enough.
6. MZ riders are too busy setting the timing at the side of the road.
7. Triumph riders are stuck in 1940 when waving wasn't the done thing you know.
8. Scooter riders wonder what those blokes are doing waving?
9. Bicyclists do NOT make eye contact, no eye contact, look up are generally look....Red light... red light..
10. Dnepr riders would wave but the lawsuit is still in court and well my grandad remembers a real R75!
