When riding in the UK and Europe I'm used to nodding or giving a quick wave etc to other bikers whilst out on the road. I've found myself doing the same thing over here but with minimal response especially if it's a cruiser rider, I've already learned to not even bother.
Is it because people can smell my foreign odour, is it because people don't like my bike or is because it's just not the done thing over here?
Not fussed either way really but just a bit surprised that people don't seem quite as friendly on their bikes as off them especially given what a friendly bunch the kiwis are.
You didn't do the special KB wave did you?
YAY! Another nodding waving thread!
Jokes aside someone here posted absolutely ultimate guide to why people do not wave back (sport, harleys, bmw and goldwings from top of my head). Will try to look it up now.

dont stop nodding mate - lots of us are still acknowledging our fellow riders when we meet them on the roads.....sounds like you have had a particularly bad run so far.
But yeah - its not as common as it was a few years ago. And the cruiser / HD crowd is the worst. Sad but true in my experience.
Rest in peace Tony - you will be missed.

You are welcome.
Personally - just carry on waving. Maybe the guy/gal just didnt notice you?
But yeah, i know the awkward funny feeling when you dont get the response

It's much less common practice in Auckland IMHO. You'll have a better response in New Zealand than Auckland.
