Firstly, your "missus" has her own bike and hardly needs a grab rail. Secondly, you'll get where you're going THAT much faster on this, your hands wont get cold. And thirdly, carrying luggage is pointless when New Zealand has the best courier system in the world that will deliver your kit anywhere you like overnight.

I'm sure the K7 is quick while it's working but my god, what an ugly piece of shit. And what's with the two pipes? Will the K8 have leaf springs?

Weeeeeel.....
I rode it at lunchtime.
You know, its kind of funny. I was expecting it to be a bit of an animal. You know, 185HP, 170kgs. It sounds mean on paper.
But its not. I mean, its fast and all that. You can take that as a given. You get to 8000 rpm and it comes on the cam and just goes silly. I weigh 100kgs, I was sitting at the front of the tank leaning right forward and I couldn't keep the front down under full throttle in the first three gears. It takes a mental realignment to handle the speed at which this thing hauls in the horizon...
But its smooth. And linear. And it just goes about its business in such a self-assured, unflustered way that your confidence on the thing after an hour is huge.
I didn't want to give it back.
I don't know about that mode thing. C was a bit gutless (well, actually it felt just like my RF900 to be honest), and B was about the same until about 8 or 9000 rpm, then I couldn't tell any difference between it and A so I guess it moderates the mapping in the lower and middle ranges.
So I pretty much left it in A. And then banged the mode thing when my hands moved going over a bump under throttle. And the bloody indicator on the instrument panel disappeared. And I spent ages trying to get it to come back again. So I decided to find a straight road, give it full throttle in 2nd and push the mode button until it felt like it was accelerating the quickest - and that would be A mode. Trouble is - straights don't last long...
I found out later that if you hold the mode button on for 2 seconds the instrument thingie pops up again.
Anyway, back to the bike. Does it handle? Yes, yes, yes.... its like a Daytona 675, just with heeeeeaaaps more grunt. Stupidly more grunt. Did I mention it wheelies well off the throttle? tee hee... You know, I spent the first ten minutes on this thing laughing my head off at the performance. I haven't had so much fun since I rode an RSV-R...
I found at first that it seemed like it was a slow steerer, but the solution was to give it more gas - weird that. Those exhaust pipes, while offending some with their looks, don't upset me - but then again - I ride an RF900 - stylistic subtleties are lost on me. And they sounds pretty good. Induction noise is cool - much better in mode A - in mode B and C it sort of sounds like its choking a bit.
The screen is AMAZING. I couldn't believe how you felt no wind at get off and walk speeds and only minimal buffetting at get off and I'm going to smack you in the head with my stick before I bundle you in the back of the car you dangerous bastard speeds.
It feels very skinny - especially around the feet - I felt like they were touching each other. Brakes are insanely good - and that slipper clutch just works - the fact that I don't have much to say about it says a bunch.
Could I use it as an everyday bike? You bet.
I think Suzuki has created something very special here. A bike I could live with for everyday riding. The way they've tweaked the motor gives it huge flexibility. And I could commute on this. And tour (although the seat hurts your but a bit after a while). And I'd definitely take it over the Rimutakas.
Thanks as always to Pete and WMCC for letting me leech yet another ride on one of their great bikes. I will buy one off you one of the days - I promise.
Guys - you owe it to yourselves to try this bike out. It's a ripper.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

I think the twin pipes will take me a while to warm to. Doing that to a race bike is like giving a bloke two knobs and saying it's the way forward in evolution.
lol....you ever tried to sell an 'exclusive' European bike second hand mate?
Suzuki don't include their 'Flagship' models in 'Summerfeast' any more for starters.
Secondly....if you start with 21K (the GSXR) and loose half it's value (which you won't)...you've lost 10500.00. If you start out spending $42k....and loose half (and you will).....do the numbers.
Every cunts a critic.......
People! This is an outstanding bike at an awesome price, if you're in the market, give it a go ferchristsake. If you can feel the extra twenty one kay in the MV, by all means buy it......I hear Max Biaggi's worried as fuck this season about all those MVF4Rs snapping at his heels.

I rode the thing this arvo.
I'd write a big speil, but I fear all the shit that could be said about it has been in a million tests, reveiws, con's, and bullshit.
Want a bike to go fuck off fast??
Want a bike to do wheelies in top?? Pick it up in forth and ride thru?
Want a bike that will do 167km/h in first?
Want a bike that is as happy sideways as it is on one wheel as it is at full throttle?
Anyone in the area, go check out the new Blackies on Pikok hill. Thats how much I liked this bike.
If you think you can handle it, or would WANT to handle it, go get one.
It checks ALL the boxes. Nuff said.
