Well beer like that had to taste like something. I could not rest until I had discovered exactly what. I then saw the error of my ways and scuttled home to the welcoming bosom of Speight's.

And, on that subject, I see that there is a Speight's Alehouse about to depart shortly for Blighty. At least that should provide an alternative to those soulless Aussie ales.

Ah, you've made the mistake of thinking that London is in Britain. Geographically you are correct however culturally London bears as much resemblance to the rest of the United Kingdom as the Bedlam Mental Assylum does to a packet of mixed nuts (apologies to Douglas Adams).

I prefer my beer cold. I also haven't had what I deem a decent pint in 8 years so I'm more than a little irate these days.

Ah...that's London. The correct phrase to say to the barman is "take the heid oaf that fuckin lager" or "can I have a cold glass please".

Londoner's can't fathom drinking whiskey straight. The number of times I had a double served up in a tall glass that was warm (straight out the glass washer thingie) with some twat asking me what I want with it. Still, at least the measures are decent...70ml in a double.
