    Getting more teeth ripped out

Yep, its that time again.......... time to get another 3 teeth ripped out by the dreaded dentist ( not to mention the horrific price, which puts you in more pain than the actual ripping )

Only got 6 to go and finally get some dentures. Smile your on candid camera.

Last time I went to a dentist the fu#$@% dislocated my lower jaw and it took three weeks to heal properly. uuuurrrrrgggghhhh

How about you ??? any horror stories ???

No horror stories from me, I don't mind the dentist - apart from paying the bill, that is.
Had all my wisdom teeth removed without a local - no worries!
I would recommend you get yourself Arnica tablets, to help with bruising and swelling...and if it scares you too much, then take Rescue Remedy beforehand.
    Good Luck!

Just get your banjo out and move to Shannon, you'll fit well in with only a few teeth!

No horror stories about teeth, but I wouldn't recommend a bilateral arthroscopy, that's for sure! (Similar operation to what they do to remove a build up of cartilage in knees.) I had one done last June and I wish to god I had never heard of it. I had pain in my jaw before, and headaches, but now I still have pain in my jaw and headaches (although not as bad) and I can't open my mouth more than about 4cm. Even trying to eat a scone with jam and cream on it is difficult and it hurts when I yawn. I find it painful to wear a motorcycle helmet for more than an hour at a time and on top of all that, it cost me about $6000! Ouch!

My husband had a 'dead' tooth too, one that had been temporarily capped about 10 years ago. It was meant to only last a few years but it was fine so he didn't see any sense replacing it with a permanent one until he needed to. As our wedding approached in 2005 he got it done as it had become loose and he was worried it would fall off and he'd be gappy in the photos! Cost him about $2500 to get a permanent one put in and he had to go back several times until it was right. Looks great now though!

In my short life I have had 20 adult teeth removed, 10 of which were removed at once whilst undergoing jaw surgery. I will be glad if I never see a dentist ever again.

    My Dental Horror story.
Had my wisdom teeth surgically removed due to being 'severely impacted' and root growth around the jawbone.
Cost me a fortune and then got left unattended in the recovery room, bed rolled away from the wall and my head fell backwards over the end of the bed.
I woke up early to find myself unable to move and my throat so full of blood I could not breathe, and no nurse in the room.
I managed to roll myself off the bed and smashed other teeth when I hit the floor, because my body wouldn't respond to commands I couldn't cushion the fall. Managed to get into something like recovery position and passed out again. Woke up again, blood all over the floor and when I tried to move, I got to the sink and pulled myself up just in time to vomit blood all over his just sterilised instruments.
Passed out again and woke up to the nurse who had finally returned to check on me, telling me off for vomiting on the instruments. grrrr
Got put back on the bed and passed out again, woke up to find my front teeth fixed and lip stitched, nurse looking very worried sitting a few feet away.
She had gone to lunch and left me alone in recovery (not allowed) Dental surgeon saw the damage to my face and apparently I told them what happened while they tried to put me back on the bed, and abused the hell out of them too. There was no charge for the fixing of my front teeth or lip stitches.

About a year ago I had a bit of pain in my upper jaw. After going into the local dentist I was referred to an Ortho for extensive (and expensive) x-rays. My teeth were never perfectly straight but I never considered them to be very bad at all, and neither had any dentist. Many appointments later (molds and more x-rays) it turns out that my jaw is in very bad shape and will cost around $7000 in total and 3-4 years to fix.
The cost is a bitch, but the fact that it can be paid off over time makes it slightly more bearable than being a 19 year old who just got braces. The most frustrating part is that if the problem had been identified when I was younger it could have been prevented for half the price and I could be done with it all by now.
My signature is cooler than yours.

heh, okay... well... when i was 10 years old, i had a lump growing on the gum just under my top lip to the left hand side... we never thought much of it, as i had abscesses before which i just needed to get drained and a few antibiotics...

then it just kept getting bigger and harder, til eventually it protruded outside my lip whenever i smiled... my folks took me to the dentist, he cut it open and tried to drain it,all that came out what a fuck load of blood, and i was missing a tooth after they took it out (5 injections in the same spot)... after that, and many x-rays there, i got referred to a different dentist, who pretty much did the same, and took several more x-rays, but couldnt find what it was...

after getting referred to the ortho, and MORE x-rays there, and being poked and prodded (oh the pain!!) they referred me to a dental surgery specialist in the hospital (all the while me not knowing their suspicions)

they then eventually told me, that it was a type of tumerous cyst that was growing and eating away at the bone in my upper jaw, and would continue further up the skull if not removed... SO i had to have emergency surgery at 4.00am in the freezing winter...

they got it out, and there was a hole the depth and width of my thumb, in the gum, that was stuffed with several metres of stuffing...

months and months of weekly checkups and gargling iodine 3 times a day after meals, it was time for the stuffing and stitches to come out... it took about an hour to get it all done... and then further gargling and check ups for months... and eventually the tooth started to come out of the gigantic hole...

several years later, when i was 14, it started comming back and had to be removed again... but luckily nothing more has occurred since then... but i have a couple of scarrs on the gum...

and that is why im terrified to go to the dentist... lol.. which i am doing tomorrow actually!! AAH!! last time i went was when i was 15... i avoid them unless i suspect things... lol..

luckily the dentist today wasnt bad... I got a check up and a clean and he told me that my wisdom teeth are starting to peak throught but may cause more abcesses (GREAT!! ... not!) and so to come back and see him if my gum gets swollen... but what i DID leave with was a bag of dental goodies! (mouthwash, floss, dental gum, a tongue scraper, a toothbrush, toothpaste and several coupons for discounts of colgate stuff) what a lucky girl! .....
