Yep, I gave it a temporary fix which should last until a new unit arrives. So far it's holding out quite well, I'll be glad to see a new one in there though!

Shame about that Sandra, but there's not much you can do given the circumstances by the sounds of it.

cheers mate....now being a suzuki man, i wanted to get your opinion on an RF900?
been looking around and found this

the flat spot concerns me a little but other than that, do you know much about them? i think i read somewhere they have the same bottom end as a Gixxer1100 and are a pretty strong engine, cowboyz seems to think theyre a decent machine, just wanted your opinion??

    oops, excuse the

    Gidday

It looks like a pretty nice bike, getting up in k's though. If possible it would be good to get a mechanic to listen to it and check it out, that could be a bit difficult though.

Mind you, the bigger engines are usually fairly understressed, so it would probably last for quite some time yet I'd imagine.

Both my gixxers have flat spots in the lower gears under acceleration, but they disappear in the higher gears, so it's not so much a concern for me.

My higher K (79K) gixxer has a noisy 2nd gear, which may mean future difficulties, so make sure you listen for a 'whine' from each gear if you test ride it.

I believe they are a good bike, but I've had zero experience with them.

Might be a good idea to start a thread on them, I'm sure I saw a thread on higher K bikes a few days ago and most people had had no problems with some pretty impressive mileage!

    Ah, just found it!

My sister had one of these and loved it. She gave it a hiding too, wore out the rear tyres on the sides before the middle every time

Flat spots are not usually a prob on larger capacity bikes.
Those RF900 motors are good ones, very under stressed.
