I think you'll find that no cop is issuing tickets for the 70km limit. They and everyone else except LTNZ have realised how dangerours it is

Oh well - I didn't meet up with anybody (having arrived late), but had a good blat anyway. Upper Hutt - Featherston - Martinborough - Gladstone - Masterton - SH2 home. And on the return trip, had a clear run from just before the summit to nearly Kaitoke. I think my chicken strips are a little narrower now

Oh - it may have been you people at the Rimutaka summit? I didn't stop due to the aforementioned clear run - sorry

What a great ride today .. was really quite chilly and at one point totally windy ... well this is how it went ...

Met up at Rimutex with wannabiker miniwannabiker and hawkeye ... and about a heap of E-Riders ... so we joined them for the first phase ... over the hill to Wild Oats ... great breaky .. then decision to make .... agreed that we would head up towards Palmerston ... so off we went ... Masterton Bypass - eketahuna .. pahiatuha .. then over the track ... well from there it was all the way home .. down to paekakariki hill road .. over that ... well to tell you the truth is was a hill road type day ... well finished the pakak hill road .. and then we split up and all went our own ways ... was great!!!

What a way to spend the day ... way to go .. thanks guys for the ride .. and not minding me bringing up the rear ...

After nearly being forced off the road twice again today by overtakers, I'm just going to go with the flow of traffic from now on and hope I don't hit a cop on a bad day. My safety is worth more than any ticket.

Aside from those near-misses though, it was a great trip over the hill. I did stop briefly at the summet but decided to keep moving. There were plenty of bikes up there then so if any of you were among them, don't think me a snob for not stopping and saying hello!

Anyone going today should probably avoid the hill and pick a different destination:

Incident Type: Weather Conditions Rimutaka Hill Rd

Thre are severve weather conditions State HIghway Two particularly on Rimutaka Hill Rd especially on the sumnmit. Severe winds and hail can be expected. Extreme caution advised.

so did anyone venture out? I tried, but every time I pushed the bike out of the garage in the sun, the rain started again by the time I had my jacket and helmet on. Decided it can wait for another day...Polished bike instead! Have to make radar detector mount too, so started on that.

We managed to dodge the rain at Manfield after expecting to be wet all day.

I am looking forward to revisiting my downfall and getting out on a Sunday ride again. Nearly have enough strength in the right hand for front brake operaation.

I will admit, there is some trepidation associated with getting back on ... but I guess in a way that's a good thing. Riding is too addictive to give up!

Good to hear your on the mend Grub. I've been a little busy on the rental lately so haven't managed to get out much myself. Just take it easy out there.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
