Good idea, you should come up as part of the ride. If you did the Coastline from the Oriental Bay right around to the Red Rocks gate, you can end up coming back over Brooklyn. It's a surprising distance and from Brooklyn you could carry on the coast theme by going Karori, Makara, Ohariu and back to civilisation at J'ville.
You go up to the Brooklyn Wind Turbine and the road to the buckets is the gate at the end. The chain just lifts off.
Yeppers just sing a mantra to yourself as you go down " ... no front brake, no front brake, no front brake ...
Sounds good. There's more info on the buckets in this thread. A run round the coastline is a great slower ride for newbies (lots of 50/70kph zones). Swing past the windmill then anyone keen to brave the gravel can carry on. Karori-Jville is a good idea but we'll see who's keen once at the windmill.
How about meeting at BP near Te Papa rather than us townies heading out and back to Rimutex?
I'll be at Rimutex. Depart sharply by 1030 to swing past BP Te Papa around 11am. Around the bays should have us at Brooklyn a little before noon for the bucket fans. Continue on to the cafe at Karori Beach for a coffee/lunch if it's open. Then home via the back road to Johnsonville.
Sounds like fun, but I cant get there today. We're cheering on a couple of the competitors in the Kapiti Women's Tri event - next time maybe... Cheers DJ

see you at BP Te Papa at 11
Excellent scheme team .... Mowgli, if you feel like it, Nasty and I will do Rimutex so that you can just meet us at BP Roadmaster (Te Papa).
We'll meet Rimutex at 10, meet up with any strays and leave at 10:30 sharp, should see you and others at 11.
Great company this morning, shitty route, top destination. Who was the wanker that proposed we ride around the bays? Gale force winds out to Shelley Bay, closed roads for the cycle race and Sunday f**g drivers for the rest of it. Oh well.
Great company this morning from Mowgli, Canterbury, 325Rocket, Nasty and myself. Thanks team for the company and the fun, sorry that all the wind and cars meant we never really go into any kind of rythym and all we ended up with was an 80km ride at sub-50K speedsOh well, it looked good on paper didn't it.
It was all made better by the destination though. It was the first buckket meeting of the year and so we ended our ride behind the Brooklyn wind turbine/Karori Santuary to see a full muster of buckets, riders, newbies and dreamers.
Great fun and thanks to Skunk, Wasp, Sully60 and AJturbo for trusting their bikes to us for a ride in the newbies session - you guys rock!
Anybody heading out this morning? I'm keen to come along but am wondering if it's a bit too windy?
