Anybody else from Kapiti or the western side?

I'll be leaving Mobil by the lights in Paraparaumu at 9:15, then passing Challenge Pautahanui about 9:45, if anyone else wants to meet me and ride to Rimutex together (cruisy pace).

So much for my assumption that Wasp would be there ...

I txt'd him and turned up late (10:37), then tried the Tin Hut, the Short Straw and the Sandbar before going home.

    Oh well - a good blat :-)

Well that was a pretty successful mission over the hill.
Cheers to the KBers who took me along on a tour of the Wairarapa.
(Anyone else see Jon Toogood in Martinborough?)

Shame that we didn't get a repeat of yesterday's weather.
Left the rest of the group early and nipped back over to Wellington - and glad I did, the wind was already blowing chronic over the Rimutakas.
The 1000RR pulled hard all the way despite the wind but I rounded one corner and was blasted by a cross wind that made the front tuck. I stayed upright but shudder to think how the 250 and 175 got on.

Hope the rest of youse made it home alright, aye?

I think we did... We all made it back over the 'takas at least. There was one corner (probably the same one that got you) where I was blown literally onto the other side of the road - I never really thought I'd come off but I shudder to think what might have happened if a car had been coming the other way. Scary.

Oh yeah, other highlights: (pick your favourite)

    - Rounding a bend to find the road blocked for 500 metres with a flock of sheep.

    - Escaped cows threatening to bolt across our paths

    - Dodging blocks of firewood falling off the back of a ute

Yep, a real hum-dinger. Amazing we came out unscathed...

Was interesting, thanks for the ride even tho i wasnt really in the right frame of mind, i was thinking too much about my back wheel stepping out every turn!, and it made me make silly mistakes, wasnt too bad tho .

My oh shit moment of the day was coming ride in to a corner overtaking the jeep with the trailer full of bikes on the back, then getting pushed by the wind right towards it, wasnt nice, i missed it tho.

Thanks for the ride, i need to fix my bike, thats my goal for the week haha.

    Cheers

I was thinking about a slightly longer ride this weekend .. possbily up the rapa out the back saddle road or gorge palmerston for brunch then wellington ... not sure if the grub will agree but sounds like fun! Not sure if the Sunday riders would go for this or not.
