Hey does anyone have a spare CB250RS kickstart lever lying around? or know where I can source one? I'm finding it hard to source one in Dunedin. Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Try PMing Tyger Tung he races a CB250rs and won't need his.
Its harder to lose weight than gain horsepower.
You're the guy who just posted on my trademe auction, right?
Sorry mate, I want to hang onto my spare for a bit.
They're right pricks of things to get hold of, apparently. The kickstarter levers seem to crack as often as the cylinder heads.
Try http://www.econohonda.co.nz , they've proven to be excellent in all of my dealings with them, and very reasonable prices too.
Good luck.
Oh, if yours is an '85, doesn't it have an electric starter?
Hey, yeah I was. Sweet i'll give them an email. Yeah I've noticed that on a few sites that it states that the later CB250RS models had electric starters, mine doesn't for some reason...
Does anyone know if any other kick starters from other models would be compatible?
One would assume the XL250S/XR250 models which had the same motor for those years would do; however frame/footpeg clearance might be an issue. You never hear it mentioned, despite the CB250RS kickstarter being a very common issue.
You can get them welded, however they usually don't last forever.
go down to ya local chinese motorbike bike shop and see if anything there will suit, the chinese brands copy alot of the older honda motors,
see if you can find a lifan dealer down there, i used to wprk for them up in aucks but sorry can't remember who the dealer was down there,
but see what theyve got then just get one sent down from aucks if ya find something suitable.
cheers: SM
Ok so I emailed econohonda and a few other dismantlers, econohonda are the only one with something that will fit. Its a genuine part for $208 (!). Think I will just try and find something compatible at a local bike shop if possible...
Heh I'm not surprised. They're rare as anything... that's why they go for so much. Oh well, now I know how much to sell my spare for if I need to!
That's a bastard, though. I've always wondered why the need to be so specific to a bike... surely the shaft size must be the same between heaps of bikes, and it's only really a matter of clearance. The CB250RS is one of a generation of bikes that were becoming more modern and compact (have to fold up the footpeg to start), so everything seems very tight there (I had a great head-scratching when looking how to mount rearsets). Might be tricky to find something that will fit out of the way when not using it and still has full travel.
