there's two on tardme.. i'm looking at the shite one! hmm, 4 square wages...
Sorry Officer - I wasn't speeding, i was qualifying...
I think he wanted that before painting it, plus since it's been personalised I wouldn't think he'd part with it so easily. And I'd like to pay a little less for an NC30 ideally, though his is especially nice
How much was the original bike and where did you get it from? Cause I'd love to ressurect one
Mmm... it'll do

Argh, all the good bikes are in Auckland and Dad won't let me get what I can't see
Anyway, if I were to convince him to get a bike unseen (I convinced him to get a loan for me from the bank), would someone reliable with a bit of know-how on either bikes in general or NC30's specifically be able to take a look at it? Also, how much would a new regulator and head bearings cost? Is head bearings something I could do or do they have to be pressed in by a shop?
shopped around for my reg/rectifier and found that Red Barrons were the cheapest ($150? from memory). The rectifier has the heat sink built in to the housing.
Head bearings are easy to do, you wont need a press, just a bit of spare time.

I likey this thread already
My NC30 with some stinking lawnmower parked next to it:
Sure thing, give me a PM if you find one you want looked at.
I got a set of head bearings recently that cost $120 (trade) and were highly recommended by a experienced & trusted bike mechanic who did his apprenticeship on these things when they first came out. He's now given in his job but will still do casual work - I will be getting him to set up my carbs shortly as the fuelling's not right.
Anyway, the head bearings were quite a bit of faffing about. Not as bad as the wheel bearings though. Putting the outer races and the triple tree in the fridge for a few hours helped with putting the new bearings on.
the carbs weren't very dirty. the fork oil needed changing, trust me i don't know who did it for you or if you did it yourself but it looked like it was years old and had the viscosity of water and with the steering head bearings being loose it made it unsafe to ride. The forks are setup as they are with only preload adjustment...? so there is not much to be adjusted. Goes great now though!
For anyone else I might be willing to part with it for $3500-$4000? It isn't really too realistic for me to keep this in my current situation.
You punk 2 smokers are cool
I'll ask Dad if he's ok with someone else looking at it rather than himself. He might only accept a mechanic looking at it but might be able to get away with someone who knows the model of bike. And I've yet to see those photos of the RVF I've got word of that's within my price range
Were these trademe ones specifically for the VFR or generic ones that were the right size?
Trade price - not trademe price. So add another $10-$30 I think. The bearings are specific to the NC30.
And I had to swap the NC for the RGV this afternoon... I want my V4 music back!
