    Grub's CBR600F: 5,000rpm @ 100kph (6th gear top), redline 12,000
    Nasty's XV500 : 5,000rpm @ 100kph (5th gear top), redline 8,500

    VTR250 was 7,000 rpm at 100kph.

    The Ducati does 7,000 rpm at 100kph...but that's in 3rd gear....arrrg - logged in as the missus again - sorry. This was written badly by McJim.

    VTR250 was 7,000 rpm at 100kph.

    The Ducati does 7,000 rpm at 100kph...but that's in 3rd gear.

    That makes more sense coming from me.

    The old CX500 does just on 5500 @ 100 km/h in 5th. Redlines at 10,000.

    7K @100 or thereabouts in 5th

    Although my magnetic L plate pulls the bike backwards towards police cars and restricts my speed to 70kph

    I once calculated that the piston speed of a 1200 Sportster is almost the same as that of an ultra-short stroke ZXR250 @ 100km/h

    Katana does just over 10thou at 100km/h in 6th.
    Does any one know if this is normal?Seems pretty high to me.
    At least I don't need to change down to pass.

    tacho reads about 8000 at 100km/hr...redline is "19,000"rpm

    You've probably got a larger rear, or smaller front sprocket. That does seem a tad high.

    and my cbr used to do that, but since then i've maintained it, oil and chain tension etc. its come down a bit
