Exhaust upgrade

I have a 1988 Honda GL145 with XR200 engine and the old school exhaust is REALLY loud, I dont mind a bit of noise but its a bit rediculous. I was looking on trademe and there are a few people selling exhaust cans, would it be possible to weld a new style muffler onto where the existing exhaust is? Would this look stupid?, would this make it quieter? Thanks

I dunno what your bike is like but on mine the muffler cans just come off with a few bolts being undone. But then again, you can't get any aftermarket cans for my bike that I'm aware of.. only aftermarket pipes that replace the whole lot.

Have you looked at how the cans are fitted to you bike?
