    Drunk deer??

    Motorcycle drags woman 250 feet

    April 25, 2007

ATTICA, MI -- An Attica woman was seriously injured after being dragged 250 feet behind a motorcycle that collided with a deer Sunday night.

Timothy Richie, 47, was driving a 1990 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his passenger wife Medrina Richie, 42, eastbound on Peppermill Road, west of Five Lakes Road, about 8:55 p.m.

"It was just after dark," said Lapeer County Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Parks. "There was field on both sides of the roadway."

Timothy told Parks the two were driving about 45 mph when a deer ran in front of the motorcycle.

The deer struck the front of the Harley-Davidson, then spun along the left side of the bike. Timothy was unaffected and maintained control, but the impact knocked Medrina off the right side.

"She became entangled in the side saddle bags," Parks said. "She was dragged 250 feet before she was released. She came to rest on the pavement."

Besides other painful injuries, Medrina, who had on full leather gear and an approved helmet, suffered severe road rash.

"Lapeer EMS recommended that a Life Net Medical Response helicopter be called," Parks said. "We were unsure what internal injuries she suffered. Lapeer Fire & Rescue set up a landing zone in the south field. The helicopter flew her to Hurley Hospital in Flint."

According to a Hurley Medical Center spokesperson, Medrina remained hospitalized in fair condition at press time Tuesday. Timothy was treated on the scene by Lapeer County EMS.

The motorcycle wasn't severely damaged and could be driven from the scene.

"If he would have been alone, it would have been a near miss, and he would have driven on," Parks said. "But the deer was just the right height and hit at the right angle to impact the passenger side."

Alcohol is a factor in the accident which remains under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff's Department. Once the investigation is complete, the file will be forwarded to the Lapeer County Prosecutors' office.

If it had been a sprotsbiek there would have been no problem - I saw a vid where a sprotbiek hit a deer and virtually sliced right through it.

He didn't realise there was a problem for over 250 metres ?

Or perhaps he was glad to be rid of the b*tch ?

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them
