Well, Vinegar Hill for a start (Feilding to Mangakino).
If you're keen you could go up through the Rapa first (Masters-Alfredton-Pahiatua-Pahiatua Track-Ashurst-Vinegar Hill).
If the keen-ness doesn't abate, turn left at Waiuoru and go through Ohakune, Nat Park, Tokanu (?), Western Lake Taupo, and back to Taupo.
Much better than SH1 all the way (esp on a Sat). This is the route I usually take if going to Auckland.

From where i'm at thats a 600k ride let alone traveling from toon town...
Speaking of keenness and liking riding your bike - does anyone know the forecast for Sat/Sun (I can never find the long range one)? My enjoyment is directly related to the precipitation at the time.

From Wellington it's going to be the best part of 1000 clicks so i guess they had better like riding their bikes then ok? I ride the same bike as Bert is evil and i've had enough by the time i've done that 600k block. but y'know... if your ok doin 1000k in a day more power to ya buddy. all i was sayin' is it will be a long day![]()
Yeah I know. Should only be about 850kms if you're going to Auckland via that route. Maybe less.
B.I.E - checkout this thread/ride report...has maps too!
