Go up via Desert road (dress warm) and come back through the Napier-Taupo's, thats gonna be a decent size ride in one day.

Well, Vinegar Hill for a start (Feilding to Mangakino).

If you're keen you could go up through the Rapa first (Masters-Alfredton-Pahiatua-Pahiatua Track-Ashurst-Vinegar Hill).

If the keen-ness doesn't abate, turn left at Waiuoru and go through Ohakune, Nat Park, Tokanu (?), Western Lake Taupo, and back to Taupo.

Much better than SH1 all the way (esp on a Sat). This is the route I usually take if going to Auckland.

Speaking of keenness and liking riding your bike - does anyone know the forecast for Sat/Sun (I can never find the long range one)? My enjoyment is directly related to the precipitation at the time.

Yeah I know. Should only be about 850kms if you're going to Auckland via that route. Maybe less.

    B.I.E - checkout this thread/ride report...has maps too!

Indeed. Oh well...not a cheap trip really $100 worth of track time is about 1000kms worth of gas. About time I did the Coro Loop soon I reckon.

I thought I was always so tired after a ride cos I'm a weak girl, glad it's not just me!

Hopefully I'll meet fatfurryguy in Manakau so that will determine the first part of the ride I guess.
