    Movies worth watching

I love a good movie, and I especially love festival movies. Hollywood trash is ok if you just want to vegetate in front of the telly, but you can’t beat a good story.

coverWatched The Road Home by Yimou Zhang the other day. It stars Ziyi Zhang who is that cute Chinese girlie that kicks butt after complaing the food is too salty in that visa ad. Yimou Zhang has made some excellent movies like Raise the Red Lantern which I think is one of his beast and Not One Less which I enjoyed so much I brought the DVD.

Video Ezy in Ponsonby has these on DVD. In fact they have a really large collection of rare movies on DVD. So does Videon on Dominion Rd.

One Hollywood movie that I did enjoy recently was Resident Evil staring Milla Jovovich. If you have played the game on Playstation like I have you will appreciate it even more.

watched 'the princess bride' again the other day. That is a classic. Even if the rest of the movie wasn't as funny as it is, I could listen to the line ".. and as everyone KNOWS, Iocaine powder comes from Australia and everyone knows that Australia is full of criminals...'

not sure about your taste in movies SpankMe, what made you pick one up that has the word "Road" and an asian woman together on the cover?

I was in Mt Eden motorcycles once and Mike was playing a bike movie of a guy doing >150miles/hr on american motorways (filmed on the bike of course). I was told the guy ended up roadkill in the end...

'Brain Smasher...a love story.' Has the dude from the Adventures Of Ford Fairlane. very funny, very un-PC

Spankme try 'A man called hero' China town film.

For the Manga fans, 'fist of the north star' and  'Ninja Scroll'

"Braindead" by Peter Jackson - particularly Bill Ralston getting bitten by a rabid monkey and the scene at the end, with a man, a woman, 500 zombies and a motor mower............

Shame on you, watching such a blatant excuse for car crashes, boy racing and other anti social behavior so obviously aimed at hooligans and the enticement of such activities by said groups!

(Was it good and should I go see it? )
